Default just got an open source tune, ran fine for 5 days but now its rich?!

Hey guys I'm completely new to this side of the forum, as I plan to learn a whole lot more about tuning. My tatrix open port cable (2.0) comes in today so I can start doing some logging.

Car never had issues before new turbo, injectors, ecbs, and turbo inlet..... well I did get p1086 (tgv's) a few times before but it would run fine before a couple of months before it came on and then I'd delete it.

04 Wrx
Old Mods;
Ej207 shortblock with stock (new) 205 heads and stock cams
Ported and clipped td04
Stock injectors
Injen short ram intake
Turbo xs fmic
Recent walbro 255 fuel pump (few months old)
Turbo xs 4' dp
Gt spec el headers with matching up pipe
3' straight pipe exhaust with has power shot muffler
Complete 6 speed swap
Tuned for 18psi on stock ebcs.
Ran great and was one of the fasted td04'd cars in the area. Would hang with stage 2 2013 wrx's.

New mods;
Grimmspeed ebcs
Hta71
Id 1000 cc injectors
Gimmick motorsports turbo inlet.
Got tuned to 21.5 psi (somewhat conservative with zero knock detected at all)
Aem uego wideband
Shaky powerband that peaked at 300 whp when clutch started to give.

Tuner suggested I get a new o2 sensor because it looked like it was going out. He also recommended a newer maf and tgv deletes.

All was good until a couple days after the tune. Ran and pulled great.
Then one time it did a 4th gear pull and my check engine light came on near 7k rpm. Pulled over and checked the code p0103 mass airflow sensor high output. --wtf? Never saw that one before.
Deleted code, drove home with no boost.
Next start up I got a tgv code p1086. Deleted it because I had seen it before.

Next day driving to work I go wot to see if I could mimic the last time, this time watching my wideband. My afr's are shooting straight to 10 (the richest the gauge reads). Yep same cel. P0103 again.
Checked for boost leaks and nothing. Wasn't cold out, or raining. In fact the weather was perfect at 80 with zero humidity.

Next day I bought a maf from a buddy that switched to speed density. Seemed to get the same results, but his maf worked perfectly (he just removed it).

New denso o2 sensor (230 bucks!). Afr's are a little better cruising and idling, but same results at wot.

And here's my theory.... I think my tgv's aren't opening up on one side, allowing it to run super rich. The car would still pull, but nowhere near like it did before. I was still hitting full boost. I think half of the engine wasnt getting the airflow it needed (them tgv's are very restrictive when closed).

Then proceeded to order motive composite tgv deletes and a tatrix cable so I eliminate my theory.

Got bored yesterday and decided to pull the intake manifold to check the tgv's. Neither side seemed stuck (they moved easily when I touched them), but I still think a bad motor would keep them from opening at wot. Waste of time. If I had daylight left I would have checked the plugs, but it got dark fast.

My tgv deletes came in today and my cable is on the way. My tuner will be ready to send a map as soon as I figure out how to flash and log.

The tgv's are my theory... anybody else have a theory?
Everyone I've spoken to says this issue is very odd...

Check your af learning at wot. If it is adding a notable amount (over 3%) that would be the reason . If so, you likely have a vacuum leak.

So back in August of this year, I had purchased a down pipe and slapped that bad boy on my 03 wagon and went and got an open source tune professionally done at Outback Automotive here in Washington state by Johnjohn. I believe i'm having the same problems with running really rich. The tune is said to have given gains of 30% in mileage. I filled up the tank last week, did the math and I had about 13-14 mpg. That is absolute ****.

(I know this isn't really helping you Brandon... but I just thought I could get some tips as well since we have the same problem)

p0103 means you are maxing out your maf. Your tuner should know that

Def makes sense ^^^^^

Couldn't you just lower the boost a bit and see if you can max it out again?

and WRXmeinMD will tell you a good way to combat maxing the maf out would be a bigger intake. just takes a bit to dial in

Sorry no update.....

But I had a stuck tgv as well. Got re "etuned" with motiv composite tgv deletes and it runs great when its about 60 degrees or above. Runs lean when its cold. Definately have maxxed out the maf.
