Default Anyone on here recognize or previously own this car?

http://www.grandsubaru.com/used/Suba...3090288a21.htm Looks like some really nice parts with a custom tune. Just wondered if someone on here owned it? I have a friend looking for one and I think with a compression/leak down test this might be a good option. Either way I will have him check it out but I want to take a stab in the dark and see if someone here knows of it.

Price seems reasonable but buying a modded wrx you nothing about could be good or very bad for a guy/girl. If the dealer looked it over and there is a warranty of sometype with it then it might not be so bad. Im assuming its tuned for all the parts listed LOL

I would buy it just for the "custom shi(f)t knob". (I added the F so it wouldn't be blocked. Read the ad - someone forgot to check the copy)

It's tuned according to the ad.
"This car makes 291 all wheel horse and 354 tq on pump gas and drives very civil. Mods are Perrin top mount intercooler, Prosport digital boost and air/fuel gauges, Ividia down pipe, SPT cat back exhaust, Deatchwerks 65cc fuel pump, Kartboy adjustable short throw shifter, custom **** knob, Grimmspeed Electronic boost controller, GoFastBits adjustable blow off valve, H&R street coil overs, Turbo heat sheild, custom MotionLab tune, and new 18' wheels with new tires! All very tastefully done and perfect! If you have been looking for a very nice WRX Limited this is the one! Don't hesitate because this one will not last so don't let it get away! Please feel free to email or call with any questions or to schedule an appointment today!".

Yeah no deal without a written warranty of some sort and written results of comp/leak down tests. Who knows, maybe it was well taken care of. Maybe not though lol.

I actually saw this car at Grand when I stopped by looking a a different WRX and asked them about it. They said that they wouldn't put a warranty on any upgraded parts because Perrin and the other companies have their own warranty on those parts.

After they said that, I knew to stay away from it. But it does look pretty clean for what its worth.

Yeah I really don't expect the parts to be warrantied. Thinking about it they really can't do anything since the rep would make the call on any broken drivetrain issues. If anything I would think they could offer something from the dealer itself but it sounds like they don't want to do that. Thanks for the info!

Well, the question isn't that they'll warranty the parts themselves so much as the entire car itself should something go wrong. Which, surely they won't.

Nearly new money for a used car with 30k miles on it? Pass. Mods don't add value, they detract from it. Unless we're talking something extreme like a built motor or an STI 6 speed.

They also don't budge on their used car prices either. I ended up special ordering a new 2014 WRX for less than most of their used cars.

Found this: http://www.wrxforums.com/forums/7-in...-hatch-tn.html

It has to be that guy because if you scroll down you will see his mods list: "2011 Lightning Red WRX Limited Hatch, Invidia DP, Perrin TMIC, Go Fast Bits BOV, AEM CAI, Grimmspeed EBCS, Cobb STS & Bushings, Stage 2 Dyno Tuned by MotionLab Tuning (291whp/353wtq @ 22 psi)"

I'm not a member there so can't tell you more.

Wow. The PNW Subaru prices are damn high compared to IL! I'd stay away from that thing. It's probably been driven hard and is a problem waiting to happen!

I personally would not buy a modded car... Unless I was planning on rebuilding or swapping the motor

Thanks all for the info and help. Yup, once I thought about it realistically, I knew it would never be a good idea unless he wanted to build the motor right off the bat. I do think the car looks just about perfect with that ride height, dark tints and black rims. Like most stated, it's just not worth it on a used performance car.

With a new car like that. No warranty, no buy. End of story.
