Default MA SPT/Q300 Exhaust

What's up people? I'll likely be acquiring a new WRX hatch within the next couple of months, and I think I've narrowed down my exhaust setup to either an SPT or Q300 based on what I've read/seen on the forums and youtube. I'd like to hear both exhausts in person before deciding though, so let me know if you're in the Boston or Worcester area and are willing to meet up and help me decide! Preferably a 2011+ WRX hatch with minimal mods (I'm considering stage 2 w/ a catted DP down the road, but that's pretty much it)

2'nd on Q300, not the same case for a SPT for me though... I would love to see a N1 too if anyone has one on a hatch.

If you have a catted downpipe, you will hear almost no difference with the q300 on. I have that set up right now haha

But throwing on my catless downpipe as soon as I've got the money for a tune.

Spt seems over priced and self hyped to me. Invidia has great reviews all across the board. I'm sure if you youtubed your car with whatever set up you have you can find some videos!

Hey guy I live down the street from PK. I just have a CBE q300 on my hatch now. No loot for a tune and catted DP yet. So if you wanna hear mine we can meet there someday if you want.

Dachef, do you have a catted DP or catless DP?
I think you meant 'no loot for a tune and a *catless DP' ?

PK..?

I'm interested in hearing the Q300 catted or catless, so if either of you would let me know when/if you guys are going to meet up that would be great, thanks.

I have a SPT cat back with a cobb down pipe and agency power headers on my 06 WRX sedan. If you would like to hear it in person PM me and we can go for a ride.

I haven't bought the DP yet. Just CBE q300. Still undecided if I want to got catless or catted yet. DP will be purchased in the next few months.

SPT is louder than Q300. Even when the Q300 has a downpipe. Stock cat and SPT is still louder.

The hatch sounds completely different and louder, and the consensus is for the last few years the SPT is quieter than the Q300 on the hatch.

Any highway drone? 3500-4kRPM ~70-75mph?
Catless is the way I'll eventually go. +1

Yep! Have heard great things. Do you have one? Know anybody with a hatch N1? Catted or Catless IDC I haven't ever been able to find one in person.

I thought it would make a slight difference in tone, no?
How long did you keep the exhaust stock for before changing it to the Q300? You have a hatchback and not a sedan, right?

Still haven't seen either N1 Q300 or an SPT in person. Will have to chime in with my own opinion when/if I hear them. However, for now I choose to believe you. I have a gut feeling the SPT isn't for me.

Daily driver? Or weekend toy?

I'm on the northshore and highly suggest you take an hour drive with N1 and Q300 before you buy. I had the q300 for 2 weeks before i resold it.

I also have a hatch. The exhaust i have is no longer made. The closest "sound wise" on the hatch vs. minimal drone is either the Cobb CBE, SPT or Nameless.

*this is from a stage 2, w/ catted downpipe standpoint...

Too much drone or what? I do plan to eventually go stage 2 w/ catted downpipe as a DD, but probably just the cat-back until the warranty is up.

Drone is horrible / too loud for a DD. IMO, in 36 and drive my car to work related meetings. hell i still get looks w/ my greddy sp elite which sounds about the same as the SPT.

I completely agree with Chester on this one. I have the q300 with a catted down pipe for about 6 months now. I also had the mad dad whisper on my car before this. There is one sweet spot on the q300 that doesn't drone in the hatch but that's about it. I would recommend going for a drive to get a feel for it. The spt is quiet compared to the 300. The biggest difference is if this going on a hatch or sedan. They are two completely different exhausts sound wise when it comes to the 300, I have been in sedan and didn't notice any drone with it. We have a weekly meet in Worcester on Mondays if you ever feel like coming out and hearing a few different exhausts.

While I don't think it would help you that much, I have an SPT on my DD with some other mods (cobb catted DP, Perrin ELH, Perrin Intake, etc) if you want to ride along. Work in Worcester, live in Webster.

When/where is the meet tonight? I work in Randolph and live in Westborough but I'm usually home by around 6. I'd be down to meet and hear some exhausts if I can make it tonight. Are you all going?

I'll defiantly be there since I kinda put it on. As far a gr chassis cars with exhaust I think one person has an spt and I have the q300. Most of the cars that come are gr's with stage 1 tunes for the time being since they are all like 2013's. Not sure who else plans on coming tonight since it varies from week to week. Sorry the meet is at red robin in Millbury we get there a little bit early then go in for dinner at 7.

I'm pretty sure we are all talking about 2011+ hatches here so theres quite a difference in sound vs older WRX's.

Also "definitely"
