Default What have you done to make your car a better Daily Driver?

Just as the title says.

I know many people have goals for their car whether that be a drag car, autoX ect. And I am just curious as to what you have done to your car to make it a better DD.

I have done a few things such as high end speakers and head unit, as well as some sound cancellation.

better head unit. short shifter and nice knob.el headers to get rid of exhaust drone. everything else made it stiffer and noisier but i love it anyway! lol

Nothing, it was fine stock. Everything I have done has increased NVH. The car is a lot more fun to drive from a power and handling perspective, but as a DD it is certainly not as comfortable as it was stock. I have other cars for comfort.

Different head unit so I could use my iPod, air freshener so I think I'm constantly at the beach and a little teddy bear that sits in my cup holder who keeps me company on those long drives.

I've done HID headlight kits, Hella Horns to scare the deer off the road. Stereo inc; Head-unit with Ipod control and Aux in, all speakers and a 12" sub with perfect fit box to not lose space, with 2 amps driving everything. Sound deadening over the exhaust and in the hatch, doors, and roof. Gps mounted low on the left side of the windshield. 3 dc port ex-pander hard-wired for more electronic goods. Interior foot-well lighting with all-weather mats. Spill-proof coffee cup =)

Rubber goodyear floor mats from Walmart. Trim-to-fit. Was going to go with the Subaru ones but read on here that they are ****. They wear through and crack.

Also all-season tires

Other than those it was just fine for me. Need to add some mud flaps before winter and maybe shifter bushings. Car came new with SPT catback and STi short throw

I will say the stock stereo and speakers suck compared to my Ford units

Just window tint, 20% all around and a strip at the top of the front windshield. I don't like the whole fish bowl feeling in non-tinted cars. It's also helped with the heat quite a bit.

Hmmm... 1st I've heard of this. My '12 hatch came with the cold weather package which included the all season rubber mats in addition to the carpet ones. I LOVE these things, they're super easy to clean, nice and thick and burly as all hell. With close to 35,000 on them, they look as new as they did when I bought the car. ZERO wear at all.

For my dd? 5% tint on all the back(legal) windows with the visor strip across the windshield. I also just added the 08+ Sti center cup-holder with the sliding cover and a legacy coin pocket to replace the useless ones we get on the newer Wrx's.

Not a big fancy mod but totally worth it to me as I feel it really cleans up the center console section on these cars. Plus I now have a coin tray that I can actually put coins in without fearing that they're going to fly all over the place when I take a turn at over 5 mph

For anyone that's intersted, I'd be happy to provide the parts and diagram that I used to mod my console, just shoot me a pm.

Kind of. He has a Steelers scarf on that constantly reminds me how bad they're doing this season. Other than that he just looks cute. I'm thinking about getting him some raybans.

Cobb AP Stage 1 tune. It made the car SO much more pleasant to drive in all conditions, and the AP makes it easy to check CEL codes.

BOV..... just trolling but I seriously got one fully adjustable though, 10% vent 90% recirculate gives me sound and reliability . I like a more responsive engine so I started there. Swapped out the tired 02 interior for an 06 black and grey bucket interior. Working on suspension components and to finish I will knock out all major maintenance.

My daily is a 00' RS2.5 with 148k miles. The car was completely stock. This past week I flushed/changed the oil/oil filter, replaced crank pulley, replaced alternator and ac belt, recharged ac, flushed/replaced brake fluid with super gold, replaced calipers/rotors/pads all around, installed ss brake lines and also installed a whiteline rear sway bar along with endlinks. I have to say the car is still slow but handles like a whole nother car and feels way smoother overall. That rear sway did wonder's though. Time to get one for the sti now.

Default Daily Driver stuff

I put on a Perrin 19mm rear swaybar and end links, Kartboy ss kit and rear bushing, and Rally Armor mud flaps. Handling and shifting are greatly improved

First thing I did was swap out the head unit for a pioneer touch screen head unit , had all windows tinted except for drivers and passenger ones. Also added tint strip to front windshield . Next was a 1200 watt amp and a Rockford Fossgate subwoofer. Also replaced all interior bulbs w 9 bulb blue LEDs . Added the sps exhaust ( questionable whether that adds to or detracts from making car a better DD) Have shift boot , ebrake boot , Cobb ss,and front and rear bushings on order now , should be here this week . That's it for now , but I read this site all the time to gather info and learn more about my car. This is my first Subaru , and first turbo .

LED footwell lighting, Pioneer heady it, speakers and subs, short shifter and Perrin shift knob. Those are the main things, as well as Weathertech floor mats and Rally Armor flaps for the winter.

I had a set for under a year before I sold the car and they were already ripped. That was not much more than 10k miles.

el headers to get rid of exhaust drone----this is fantasy--uel header isnt the cause of drone, never has been

Nothing, it was fine stock. Everything I have done has increased NVH.----then you are doing it wrong....my car is quite modded and it is only a bit more NVH because the exhaust and tires arent silent like the stock ones...and a 4eat wrx wagon is NOT 'fine', 'stock'....not in this galaxy it isnt oh...and you can easily mod the car for WAY beyond stock performance without making it harsh or stupid...but way too many dont know this and get it all wrong

BOV..... -----yeah....NOT

shift knob that's engraved to look like a bewb----- goddamnitman...best mod EV4R!!!!!

this same thing gets posted here every so often....and the fantasys about what is and does what amazes me....too many idiots think they gotta make racecars to get 'performance' when in FACT, many times they JUST get a car that is uncomfortable and DANGEROUS to drive because they have created a death trap thinking its gotta be that way
