Question Need opinions of swap or Turbo setup???

I have a 2.2L OBS wagon and I am debating whether or not to swap a JDM legacy EJ20T into it and spend the money for the standalone ecu or just turboing my N/A EJ22 and running it at low boost. I'm sure some i-clubbers have undertaken this project. Just trying to weigh my options before I spend the money. Both projects look like they start at around $1500 and up. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

I was also looking at putting an USDM legacy exhaust manifold onto my 2.2L OBS engine as a route to make the custom turbo setup. Will this work?? I have a 99 Phase II motor w/ an MAP sensor so I understand that I have to get the Zener Diode piece. I'm curious if the manifold will bolt up to my single ports on my block??

Thanks i-club,

PJ

first of all i think your budget is too low
at least doubble it maybe triple it

you need to remmebr to add things like gages, fuel pumps, clutches, cross memebrs, custom exaust work, etc...

i will probblay spend 1500 on the ecu part alone

ps i have know a guy in bosie that has a LT manafold that he want to get rid of

I put my turbo kit together for roughly $1680...that included a J&S, gauges, fuel pump, intercooler, BOV, turbo, up and down pipes, oil lines, coolant lines, and a rrfpr. Basically everything you need plus some.

Can I use that Legacy turbo manifold on my 2.2L w/ single ports? I was planning on building a turbo from the bottom end up but I can't get any info on doing this?? Any help? Did you recieve your engine yet?? I'm trying to find some guys locally who could help w/ an EJ20 T swap, but one other problem, I don't have another car to drive...

Thanks for the info.

I wish!.

OK, no foolin here. Your budget is WAY too low. You may find a motor for that, but it will not be that cheap to have the work done. That also may not include the cost of electronics for fuel and timing, ie JDM ECU or some sort of PEMS. If you are planning to turbo your NA motor, you may find that a JDM turbo motor may be the cheaper and less expensive way to go. But remember, the Beast "22B" had that kick but 2.2 liter JDM motor behind it. Also, you can get a 2.0 WRX motor too. Now that the WRXs are winding up in the juck yards from all ot the accidents happening out there. You may want to consider that as an option.

The 22B started out as a Ver. IV 2.0 liter. I guess it was bored and stroked to 2.2.
