Default Tuning Shops...

Are there any good tuning shops in the denver/boulder area that carry WRX/Subie parts besides Flatirons? I did a search but the only threads that came up were old and one talked about a colo. springs shop.

there is a awd dyno if you know how to tune it yourself at this audi performance place in westminster -- it's next door from a small subaru shop.

What do you mean by subaru shop? Do they sell aftermarket performance products? I appreciate the reply.

Try SDR Performance 303-287-8889 (near I-76 and 88th out east).

We offer their turbo kits and strut tower bars for sale...

A statement like this is a copout-please give an example of how Flatirons parts or service is overpriced.

dubX1,

Thanks for shopping with me although I'm sure Pep Boys will be able to fill your APC needs...

What were you pricing that made you have such a harsh opinion of us, because I have been competitive on any quality product and we always perform superior work for the installation and service.

I feel that general statements about dealers being overpriced as not only incorrect but quite untrue. I would also like for you to give facts to which you have based your opinion upon.

Ouch! Kinda harsh... Maybe you were just interested in the good quality stuff, and that costs some green?

I don't know about parts, but the prices on installs are definately steep. (Let me say that this is in no way a knock on flatirons. If I didn't think it was a good dealership, I wouldn't have bought my car there. Excellent customer service). But anyways, back to the point. They wanted something like 590 for a spring install. Also when I first got my car I was going to have them install a tt. Don't quite remember their quote, but I found plenty of other places that would do it for half what they quoted. But all in all I'm sure they do superior jobs on their installs...I just can't afford it. Sorry if my comments were offensive. APC...yeah right

dubX1-I'm not sure who gave you a intall quote of $590, but the real price is approx. $250. I know this because i set the rates here for performance work. If anyone wants the best deal on rates here at the dealer they should contact me or Troy, not some random service advisor. We try very hard to be competitive on our pricing-sometimes we can't be so we try to help the customer get the best deal possible.

Thumbs up

I can vouch for Bret's work. He is well quite knowledgable (sp?) regarding our cars and is worth the money. As he mentioned, contacting him or Troy (also very much in the know) directly is the best option.

Happy Hunting.

$250 is much more reasonable! I was quoted $550-600 +alignment!!! Maybe you guys should get together and set standard pricing for your work.

I'm sure Bret and Troy are very knowledgable...That is not in question!

Default My two Cents

I had to jump in here and say a few words. Troy and Brett at Flatirons are excellent examples of good people!
There rates are extremely reasonable, and they are super easy to work with.
If you have questions on an install or pricing, go straight to Troy or Brett, get the real scoop, and then go have fun with your car knowing it was setup the RIGHT way by an outstanding tech. (that is if Troy has enough speed crack on hand!).

Nothing but love for Flatirons (now if I could just find where that noise is coming from!!)

rexfan555,

I wanted to clarify about pricing on our performance installs. Our rates for the performance work are much lower than our standard shop labor rates because the job is considered "clean work". The spring install by the book is 1.5 hrs per corner @ $90/hr = ching ching but performance spring install + Senior Master Tech Bret = $250.
Any place can put them on but installing them correctly and in an expeditious manner is the main reason that I can give for us to do the work for you.

Like I said before...$250 sounds reasonable. Next time I call for an install quote I'll ask for you and clarify exactly what I am looking for!

BTW do you sell the carbon/ti exhaust? If so what are you selling them for? I would like to keep my business in Boulder as I live and work here!

rexfan555,

I have the HKS Carbon/Ti Hi Power cat-back system for $799 and if you give me a call we can work out something for installation. The phone number to Flatirons is (303) 443-2919.

Bret - how much for the up-pipe install??
FYI Exeter Subaru (in New England - http://www.subaruwrxparts.com),
lists the strut/spring install at $$335, so you're ahead on that, and the up-pipe install at $192.50!! I'm not sure if that includes the gaskets or not!...

Do you stock any axle-back exhausts?

I'd really love it if you guys posted your stuff on the web, it's really hard to find out what you have!!

It's bit of a drive to get up to Boulder.... do you guys have rental cars for the day?
