I am never opposed to hosting a meet, as long as you don't force me to take my car in the dirt!

No problem Dan. I'm not taking my RS-T into the dirt anytime soon either. We could have our own anti-dirt party as we watch the rally-X the next day.

Dan not wanting to go in the dirt I can understand, but not kastle. If your car is broken in by then, you should race. My WRX will be in the dirt about a month after I get it. I MIGHT even let Bud drive it. I shouldn't, especially after he wouldn't let me drive his RS in the dirt, but maybe I am a nicer person than he is. Not a hard accomplishment.

A Turbo SVX will offically be there. Not to mention its insanely fast. Shift Kit needed and we have to find out why it's not engaging AWD sooner

With the possible exception of Dan, who needs to get an adjustible suspension.

I might volunteer my place, but I live in Chandler, so that won't be very convenient for all you northerners.

Anyone live in the central part of Phoenix?
Preferably with a BBQ grille?

Bud, you assume that I don't want to host a Subaru meet, which couldn't be furthur from the truth.

Lets see, video capture devices, networked computers, 2 playstations, 2 N64s, a full home-theatre, backyard bbq, RC cars, etc. etc. I am proud of my house, and proud of the toys to make it home. Having a Subaru meet there would be an honor.

I *will* host a meet just as soon as I get my lawn in - probably a month or 2 away. Having one before hand was never an issue for me.

But, I have said it before, I'll say it again. I don't care where the Subaru meet is, 'cause I enjoy hanging with all you guys.

-Dan

PS: My suspension is ride height and dampening adjustable. Its only my insane spring rates that keep me from doing a RallyX.

I didn't really want to make an assumption one way or the other. Hosting a big get-together can be a pain. Some people like it some people don't. Even if you like it, it can still be a big pain. So, I'm glad you clarified.

We return now to our regularly scheduled thread, already in progress.

Um... Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I can make it the Saturday of the rallycross. My weekends are going to be pretty busy from now through the end of April. So, I vote for giving Dan's grass some time to grow. Sorry guys.

That's a little harder to adjust. Maybe it's time to buy a WRX.

You really are missing one of the biggest joys of driving this car by not playing in the dirt with it. It's way more fun the the autocross. (I can't speak for the track yet, but I'll let you know when I do. Of course, I'm assuming you've not already done a bunch of rallycrossing. )

Question

It just occured to me that we've sort of usurped the Subaru meet and moved it to Sunday and I haven't seen Kastle, Aaron, or Dan throw their thoughts into the pool yet. You guys aren't upset about this are you? I kinda' thought we were rescuing Dan from having to host the whole thing. Are you guys alright with this or would you prefer something else? I suggested the lunchtime BBQ so that non-entrants COULD have an anti-dirt party if they wanted. (And, so that we could all have some lunch since Bill warned us that there weren't going to be any consessions there.)

Heh - I know all about playing in the dirt. Owned a lifted Isuzu Rodeo for 5 years, and before that, dorve the Rim Road (200) over a dozen times, sometimes at speeds fast enough to really get the good ole adrenalin going...

Like that one time I almost launched the family mini-van down the side of the cliff, but someone had thoughtfully placed a fallen tree at the outside bend of the turn as a makeshift guard rail.

Anyways, with playing in the dirt comes so many other things. Suspension breaks faster in the dirt. Tires blow beads easier in the dirt. Your paint takes a beating. Its so much easier to spin out, etc.

Its not like I am saying track racing is safer. As a consequence of the higher limits, you have greater potential for disaster. But, its the ability of being on a track with 10 to 20 other cars at the same time that really adds to the experience for me.

When you get ready to do an event, let me know, and if my car is done, I'll readily join ya.

-Dan

oops - almost let the cat out of the bag!

Dan knows Good rides. My other choice Was a Rodeo with the 24 valve V6. I chose the SVX because it was a lot cheaper than Rodeos.
