Default Mi: Metro Detroit area. Need a tune

Like the title says I'm in the Metro Detroit area and I need to get my 04 wrx tuned with a couple new mods. Where does everyone recommend I go?

Any input is much appreciated!

I'm flying in Sti Mikey from Phatbotti Tuning to Chicago on November 2nd. He charges $300 a car plus $50 to rent the dyno where we'll be at.

Mikey would be a good option. Plenty of people are happy with the stuff he and Ron create.

If you prefer to stay local to Detroit check out garage99.com. Tony has been tuning Subarus for many years. He's done 3 or 4 tunes for me. I've never had a problem with his work. I know of one other in the area whom I would trust with my ecu, but I'm not sure he's tuning cars anymore. He seems to be traveling a lot for his job and may not have time.

No , That would be a very bad idea. Take your car to P&L in Chicago and have them do it.

Yeah Speed Industry changed owners, don't think Subaru is their specialty.

Everything I have heard about junior from p&l in Chicago is good. I'm making the 4 hour drive to him from A2. Only problem I have so far is getting ahold of him, 2 e-mails and no response yet.

I "think" he is talking about Brian.....Call Oakos Automotive, he tunes through them and he is located in the A2 area. Brian has tuned many local cars.

Speed Industry isn't the same as it was 5-6 years ago when Jan/Tony were still running it. I've also had issues getting a hold of Tony before when I was still looking to get tuned back in Michigan. Sent him several e-mails with no reply as well. If Mikey were tuning in Michigan, I would drive the 4-5 hours to get tuned with him in person.

I think he gave up tuning as a side job shortly before or after Speed Industry changed ownership. I think his "real" job got rather busy and his girlfriend might have asked him to spend more time at home. I don't know the exact reasons.

It looks like he also has a facebook page for garage99. If that or email doesn't work I might be able to bother him with some questions. I think I have his phone number and his personal FB account.

Regardless....
Mikey is good, and I think he still has Ron (Phatron) to advise when necessary.
Junior is well respected and tunes some of the fastest drag Subaru's out there.
Plenty of locals have been happy with Tony or Brian (as shamrock noted).
I think you can also get a tune down at Pure Tuning in Toledo and people have been happy with their work.

I think HPTechs and Oakos (shops) have contact information for both local SE Michigan tuners. I would start there...

I recently got tuned by Keith at Pure Tuning in Toledo (http://www.pure-tuning.com/). Well worth the 1.5 hr drive; completely positive experience. Super thorough and knows his sh#t.

Perfect business op for someone to drop way too much dough on a awd dyno for east MI. ****'s kinda sad since it's supposed to be the motor city.

I dont think Tony works with Oakos that much, Brian is the tuner there. If you want to get in touch with Tony, contact HorsePower Techs. I have seen Tony up there several times.

Hey, I'm Brian, the tuner for oakos in the area, shoot me a pm and I'll give you my email and we can figure out a good time.
