So how do you get to that Tortilla Flat road I've heard mentioned here? I know it's by apache Juction and I take the 60, but where do I get off and what road/roads do I take to get there?

You take 60 to Apache Junction, then 88 toward Tortilla Flat. (Hang a left at the bottom of the off ramp of 60, then about 3 miles down, take a right at the junction to get on to 88) The first 20 miles is paved and wiggly!! Then after Tortilla Flat, the next 20 miles is unpaved and wiggly!!!

Watch out for trucks with boats, but other than that, the visiblity on the road is good, and the surface after Tortilla Flat is great. Have fun!

Are you going up there today?

Dave.

Oh! I wish I knew you guys were going! The wife and I drove it today.

We went all the way past the dam and onward to Globe. We took the freeway back (which was fine until we got backed up by the accident at Val Vista on the 60). It's a FANTASTIC drive! about 120 miles (3-4 hours) all the way around if you don't stop much.

We have to get a group together and make an afternoon of this some time soon. Maybe we could meet at Superstition Springs mall, make the drive (stopping at a few scenic spots for pictures), then have diner at the Outback Steakhouse South of the mall on the way back.

Whadda' ya' say?

Thanks for the info. I wasn't planning on going that day, but some day soon. Basically, if I can cut out of work extra early I'll give it a shot. It sounds fun, Red, and I like the idea of turning it into a meet sometime.

I didn't go yesterday either. We ended up having a blow-out in the Jetta on i10 on the way to Pacacho Peak instead

Just let me know when, and I'll be there!

Cool! There's some great scenic spots (especially between the Tortilla Flats and the Roosevelt dam). We'll have to try to plan it when we can get a good photographer ( hey Bill ) out there.

Count me in, sounds fun. My wife got me a Strut tower bar, caliper paint(red), and seatbelt pads(red) for Christmas! I can put all of them on my car when I put Larry's intake on(which I've had for 3 1/2 months - I've been busy!).
