One point you may want to consider is that the software you're looking for is many years old and uses an older generic Microsoft USB driver. We had a customer contact us last month when their computer blue screened while using EcuFlash 1.42, which was the last version using this older Microsoft driver. The last couple of versions of EcuFlash use a Tactrix written driver which has never had a blue screen report. From the 1.43 release notes:

IMPORTANT - the OP2 now uses a custom driver I wrote for better speed and stability than the Microsoft usbser.sys driver. This allows for reduced latency and a cleaner installation as well. *** This means that initially you must do a full EcuFlash and J2534 / driver install so that all of these components will work together. OLDER ECUFLASH AND OP20PT32.DLL VERSIONS WILL NOT WORK WITH THE DRIVER. **

My tactrix worked fine also, until one day out of nowhere after few years using it, blue screen of death during a reflash. Lucky for me, it took the reflash again.

Tactrix cable now days are cheap, you can get the 2.0 for $150 from tactrix.com and they will fix them pretty much for life if you have a problem. I would suggest just pay the extra money and have a cable that works with the software correctly. Thats my 0.02, Im sure not everyone will agree but its food for thought.
