Default My first WRX -- But minor engine chirp/squeak in idle/park after a 20 min drive?

Hello all,

Just entered the WRX world with the purchase of a 2011 WRX Limited. Everything drives great, but I just noticed after a couple decent drives (20+ min) and I go to park, I hear a reoccurring squeak/chirp coming from what I think is the passenger side engine bay as I let it sit and idle. Car is at 28.8k miles, and I didn't notice the sound on cold start.

I still have warranty left, so I'll probably have the dealer diagnose it at my 30k service, but wanted to see if anyone had an opinion of what it might be and if its serious enough to get looked at before then.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. Hard to speculate what the sound could be, but a quick video of the sound might help. Post one on YouTube and link it to here so we can see/listen.

Just take it to the dealer. You're close enough to a 30K it won't matter anyways.

Yea, I'm going to do an iPhone video later tonight when I remember. Wasn't sure if squeaks were normal after running awhile. But assuming its nothing too scary which is why I asked, it'll just get looked at next month at the 30k service.

Speaking of -- what all do they do for the 30k service? And how much $$$ should I expect to spend?

Here's a video:

It almost sounds lower, maybe near the exhaust, its very high pitched almost tinny, but suppose could be a belt too.

Yea we can't see the private video...but a very common issue for a chirping sound would be throw out bearing. See if the noise goes away when you press the clutch then go from there

Doh I thought I set it to just unlisted. Try now. I doubt it's a clutch issue since it occurs when it's neutral and doesn't change with the clutch engaged etc.
