Default Offset vs. Wheel width question

I pretty much understand the concept behind offset, but what I don't know is will a +56, 7.5 wheel fit on the WRX? I recall reading that +56 may be too much.

Does this mean +56 offset puts the wheel closer to the car center (compared to +52), or further away? Ok, so I don't fully understand offset...heh...

Saw some Symms wheels (similar to Limix Linea) on Group Buy earlier and am curious, because it sounds like a nice wheel!

higher number moves the wheel in towards the center of the car and I doubt that a 7.5 ET56 would fit because it would hit the suspension

Hmm...This quest to find a nice wheel that I'm interested (AND will FIT my car) is becoming a pain in the rear!

So...Unless I hear otherwise, scratch the Symms wheel *cry*

That leaves the Linea, which I believe is +52 (or +48)...But, it's also expensivE! Ugh.

Thank for your reply Luke!

If Syms says it fits a WRX, than it will work. I've never known Syms to make anything for any car not a Subaru so it should.

Hmm...Well, I +56 isn't that bad, but 7.5" wheels still makes me worry. Just wish I had 'proof'...Or, firsthand experience.

Thanks for the info...

btw, where does Symms say it will fit on a WRX? I don't know their website...

i've heard mixed on this subject..

cobb say's +53 is optimal..
OZ say's +48 is..

i'm looking at the superleggeras which have a +48 and is a 7" wheel..

then i get into tire sizes.. tire rack say's 225/40-17

but subaru standard (+1) is 215/40-17

which is the appropriate offset?
what are the pros/cons about these 2 tire sizes for the mentioned wheel?
