Default Installing speakers & headunit

Hows it going everyone, just as a disclaimer i already searched this and there wasnt really any threads on what i am looking for. Basically, i am trying to gauge the difficulty level of installing speakers and a headunit. i know it obviously depends on technical capabilities but i just want to know what i'm in store for before i go ripping apart my dash. i heard that speakers are pretty much plug and play but what about headunits. or if there are any write ups on this if you could throw them my way that would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance & if this is a repost, i apologize.
