Default looking for network software engineering job

Okay lemme see if I can spill my story in a few sentences. I am an ex-dotcom kid - I dropped out of college in 96 and worked for local internet startups doing IP network operations and engineering stuff (routers and switches, mostly cisco) for eight years. Then I decided I should really take the time to go back to school to finish my degree and tweak my career a little. I settled right into finishing my degree in Computer Science and Linguistics, because I found I really enjoyed the programming and theorificating and stuffs.

So I am going to be graduating at the end of the summer. I want to combine ("leverage" ) my experience working with network protocols with my training in programming to, you guessed it, develop network software, preferably in a Unix environment with C and/or Java as the main platform.

Does anybody know of any companies doing anything like this in the area? I'm just trying to figure out what is out there. Any help greatly appreciated!

Water Injected Blue

Default Alexandria Tech company looking for S/W developers

My group is getting heavy on contracts, and thin on people to support them.

Looking to hire two to three software developers immediately that can get a security clearance (we would sponsor the background check, you just can't have stuff that you know would deny you one). Would like people with some experience, but can let you learn on the job if you pick up stuff fast and can work collaboratively with people.

VB/C++, .Net, SQL Server, ESRI ARC 9 and IMS, Pocket PC app. development/deployment are the tools you would be working with.

Near Eisenhower Metro stop on yellow line, across the street from Patent & Trademark Office. Mostly casual work environment, unless a customer comes into the office, then slacks and collard shirt are in order. Two weeks beginning vacation with up to 40 hr comp-time bank...

If interested contact me through PM or e-mail through NASIOC on my profile.

Ok, I just graduated from Villa Julie College with a BA in Business Administration with a focus in project management. I have worked in many aspects of business. Over 4 years in retail sales and management. I have also worked as an assistant warehouse manager for a company w/ over 1.5 mil in inventory. I also worked a very short and unsuccessful stint for Myles @ Racecomp as a post whore. (I still have mad respect for everyone @ Racecomp, but I was not the type of person Myles was looking for, I could not post constantly and consistently enough.) And now i am working as a Project manager/ Contract Sales Representative at Lakewood Mfg.

This job has a lot of money potential, but I have no passion for furniture and having my Mother as the controller and two sisters as Co-workers is getting f-ing crazy. Now I am looking for a job just about anywhere. I still need to make a decent amount of money, but I am willing to take a pay cut if necessary as long as there is potential to grow.

I am very enthusiastic, detail-oriented, and professional. I also am very sales driven with proven track record. I am pretty well organized with excellent oral and written communication skills. On top of that, I consider myself to be a people person and love to interact with all types of people. I am by no means a Subaru Expert, but if the job does have something to do with the industry, I have a pretty good base of knowledge and I am very willing to learn.

So if you guys might no of anyone hiring that would be looking for someone like me, just let me know. I appreciate any and all help.

BTW: I am located in Owings Mills, Willing to commute to baltimore or surrounding areas.

Dude...that's rough...no way in hell I could ever work for or with family. Just not smart business as far as I'm concerned. Good luck...I know what it's like to be left out because of politics and loss of a major client, things beyond your control.

^^ what he said.

Location and Company (if you're willing) are beneficial for people to know. As much as I want to, my stalking reports don't have enough information regarding your place of employment

If a company within your area considers you a candidate and you're willing to accept their offer, does it matter for this position, what company is it? Any company can go bankrupt any day without notice, so security is out of concern. I hope you're not looking to brag about where you work, so what's on your mind?

PM works best as not to distract others looking for jobs in this thread. The job is pretty much entry level from my perspective. Candidates shouldn't be too hard to locate.

Kinda out of my search area cause it would mean relocation and into an area (either MoCo or NOVA), and I know the problems yall have with the local PoPos down there with factory hood-scoops and what not.

If I'm getting really desprate, I'll keep you in mind. Don't have any contacts in the Balt. Metro area do ya?

Not bragging, just saving people time of PM'ing each other if you are out of the location of where they are looking. MAIC is a pretty large area. Also some people prefer large companies and some prefer small companies. Even if the job is for n00bs, people still have preferences.

P.S. Specifying location/company was not all directed at you. It just seemed like a lot of people posting wanted ads, but not specifying where the job/company would be. Maybe people want to remain anonymous until it comes down to PM time.
