Default 8 psi of boost no bueno

alright so here it is had my car data logged with a tactrix cable, it was showing my peak boost was only about 8 psi. what all could be causing this?
i have been thinking that there is a boost leak some where due to the turbo builds the pressure. is there anything els that could be causing such low boost levels? i can get other info off the program if it helps. Yes the pill is in the vacuum line

What RPM are you hitting 8psi and do you have any mods? Isn't 8-10 psi stock on the 02-05 WRX's?

8 PSI max boost is what you would expect when the vacuum line between the turbo outlet and the wastegate controller is missing the restrictor (aka "pill"). I bet this car once had an aftermarket boost controller installed.

You're never going to get full boost at 6k rpm on that tiny turbo. 8 psi sounds about right at that rpm, you need to be closer to 3-4k in order to see peak boost, it tapers off pretty quickly above there.

8psi is the wastegate spring pressure, something is wrong with your boost control system, check your control solenoid and for leaks in your vacuum lines. did this happen out of the blue or has it been like this?

+1 for this. When my 04 STI was running 8lbs, i found I was missing my restrictor pill and also needed a new boost control solenoid. Runs like a champ now.

You can buy one of the pills at a dealership for like $0.40 i think, or maybe a few dollars, not expensive at all. I actually have an extra one, unfortunately you live on the opposite side of the country. I could probably mail but it'd be faster to get it from the dealership.

Like I stated before, very likely could be your boost control solenoid. Check all of the hoses from your boost control solenoid for leaks and or cracks. do you have a boost gauge?

Cracks and leaks in the boost control lines will raise the boost, not lower it.

i replaced all of the vacuum lines when i checked for the restrictor pill so all the lines there are new.
as for a boost gauge i do not have one.
Should i like to get a new OEM Boost solenoid or go with an after market one?

I had this problem when I had a bad coil. This put the ECU into a limp mode of some sort where it wouldn't attempt to make boost beyond what the turbo could passively do.

Are you getting any CEL codes at all? I will note that it may take a while for one to pop up, like a couple weeks long, or 15 minutes. It's kind of weird how Subaru generates codes sometimes based on whatever parameters it's trying to look for.
