Post AZScooby.com logo design contest

We need to come up with a AZscooby.com logo. And Dan came up with a awesome idea. We are having a logo contest. It will be a democratic voting process. I have no idea what the winner will receive, but we will come up with something.

So send me whatever you come up with, via email, and I will make page on AZscooby.com for it.

Once we select the one we all like, then we will move to get some crap made up with for us. Shirts, stickers, business cards....

Did you follow the one for i-club? We posted ideas in a thread and people gave suggestions and critiques. Very crazy on the General message board, but I think it could work for the small AZ section, or better yet your site in general. This allows people submitting to fine tune a little before we vote. What do you think?

I had a few moments at work so I cranked out a few ideas. I like logotype and not crazy logos..so I have kept it simple. Also, simple logos reproduces well. I was figuring the window decals would be laser cut vinyl, color matched to the current Subaru body colors..

Yeah, those are pretty good. I have an idea myself. Maybe I'll have to give it a shot.

Well, I will play around with a few ideas on my free time at work, but I don't know if I will come up with anything better than what olsonjj did.

Let me work on it a little tomorrow and I will let you know.

I am glad people like the concepts I worked on..
FWIW - I like the 3rd one down..
I think a dark blue polo and black polo with white stitch would be a good shirt color.. The only thing on the shirt would be AZ Scooby.com and maybe the Subaru logo in a nice tight white thread stitch. Nothing on the back..

No problem. I had them as one in my first version..but this way it seemed to draw out the AZ part.. When I get into work tomorrow, I will pull them a bit closer.. I will do several version at different distances so we can see them all in comparision.

Question

Do we want the Subaru stars or the i-Club 'i' in the center of the swish?

I had an idea that I'm probably not going to have time to work out. Maybe someone with the time and graphics skills can play with this. The main symbol would be the Subaru or i-Club swish on top of a State-of-Arizona-shaped checkered flag, waving slightly in the wind. We could use that without any lettering in some cases. We could use it with different combinations of the following in other cases: "www.AzScooby.com", "www.i-Club.com", "AZIC", and/or "AzScooby".

All I ask is, please... no saguaro cactus.

Here are some spacing options.. Option 1 has the AZ and Scooby butted up next to each other, Option 2 has a slight offset, and Option 3 is the original spacing. IMO, Option 3 reads better. Option 1 and 2 start to read as AZS cooby and not AZ Scooby..

Here is the first one, more will come. In case you can't tell, the dot of the eye is the shape of Arizona.

Wow, those are cool too. And John, it's all of our decisions, equally. But some of us are more equal than others. I don't know about the prize yet.

And now there is more competition.

Here is another variation using the iClub logo instead of the Subaru logo..

<IMG SRC="http://www.yapiodesign.com/AZScooby/azscoobyiclub.gif" border=0>

I think we need to decide if we are part of iClub or are we a separate entity? This will make a big difference when we approach SOA or the dealerships.

FYI - I havent added color yet to any of the options I have shown. If anyone wants to see a version with color, I can produce one.. I was thinking if this works as a logo, it can be reproduced in many colors depending on the background ( glass, body panel, polo shirt, web site)..

Personally, my favorites are the last two from my last post (the ones with the shape of AZ and the Subaru stars) And as John says, which logo we ultimately decide on may depend on if we are to be associated with I-Club or seperate. Also as he said, colors can be used in any of the logos. When are we going to vote, and how long will the voting last?

Ooo, Ooo, Now we're getting some where!

OK, now take the 2nd one in that last set (the one with the state in the background and the stars in front). Instead of just the stars in front, put the Subaru (or i-Club) swish. Maybe try a version with each and see how it looks. Also, try it with and without the checkered flag pattern on the state.

RE Color: I think a black or black & white checkered state with a golden yellow swish looks good. I also like that "sunset gold/yellow" that you've done above, very desert-like.

RE "to i-Club or not to i-Club": I think we have more clout as the AZ chapter of the i-Club.

Great work!

Wow!!! Very nice!! I like them all!!

Anyway I would like to add a few things. First of all I like 2 designs:
Option 1 from the trio with the different spacing from olsonjj,
and the one from puregraphic with the state in the swoosh.

Both are very clean, fairly simple, and give all the info that we need out of a logo.

I'm on the fence as too which one I prefer.

I don't believe that our stickers should include anything connecting us to the i-club, for the simple fact that what we are doing is our own thing, not for the i-club.
Now if we want to provide a nice link on the AZScooby page to the i-club thats cool.
Another thing we can do is have the logo on the i-club at the top of the AZIC forum.
For an example of this, just check out the NESIC forum. They have their own logo and even mention of their website there.

As far as shirts go, I am all for Polo shirts, but I think we should do the standard blue & yellow that Subaru uses for the factory rally team. Also if we wanted to, we could put a little i-club logo on the sleeve or something.

Anyway, those are my thoughts, thanks for listening.

Smile

Here is my favorite option shown within its application type.
- the basic logo shown in black
- polo shirt with Subaru corp colors
AZScooby.com on front breast and tag line along the shirt sleeve band
- web version for iClub ( not totally happy with background shape)
- laser cut decal versions in Subaru color choices.

Hope eveyone likes the design. The Subaru blue is a bit light.. I didnt spend the time to color match it..but you get the idea.

-John
