Default 2011 sti stoptech pads, centric rotors, SQUEAL!!

Hey guys:

I just got my stoptech street pads and centric rotors installed. The pads have been bedded properly as evidenced by the rotors no longer being shiny and rings forming. Unfortunately, I'm getting a squeal at light braking to a full stop. My friend told me that this will get better over time as the pads and rotors wear. I like the new brake combo, but the squeal is very annoying. Is there a fix for this squeal. I've searched already and have not found much.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Did you lube the backing pad?

Aside from Brembo's being a noise prone system:

Continue to break in.

Rebed.

Add the diagonal shims that were there stock if you omitted them.

Alter your braking style a bit - there are certain 'natural' frequencies that will always squeal.

I wouldn't chase it that much. It is what it is to some extent. Some cars squeal horribly all the time.

I have the same exact squeal...it happens during the final moments of slowly coming to a complete stop. I'm thinking about getting rid of the stop tech shim and using the two oem diagonal shims to see if that helps.

I have the stoptechs on my WRX as well and they squeal like crazy. I'm getting new rotors because mine are now warped (turned them when I first got the pads) so I'm going to try and re-bed them. I didn't grease lube anything though. I'll try that when I put the new rotors on.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I guess I may just have to live with the squeal. It sounds like this is just what the brakes will do unless I want to spend $1500!

After doing additional research my installer ordered the stock factory shims. He installed them and the squeal went away. It's been two weeks now. The brakes feel just like stock. Thanks got KNS's help on this one.
