Default My 2013 Wrx rear ended in 7 car pile up

So today while commuting home from work I was rear ended in a 7 car pile up while sitting at a dead stop in traffic. The accident was caused by a bigwig driver with an oversized load. Witnesses said the bigrig swerved from the slow lane across to the carpool lane the started riding the center divider wall then started plowing into cars then drifted back across all 4 lanes finally crashing to a stop at the freeway exit sign. My car was the last car hit & was hit by a new jeep cherokee that was pushed into my poor Wrx. This is some bull****! I really don't even want it repaired I'd rather have it replaced since the car is only 10 months old. I don't want to have a new car with a major accident on its carfax. But if its totaled out by the insurance how much will they actually pay me? I've paid $15,000 towards the car the car was mint condition with about 9k mileage. I know they will pay off the car & pay me what's left over. I just want to get a replacement Wrx with the same mileage that has a clean carfax. To make it worst is I am moving to a new place tomorrow talk about ****ty luck![IMG][/IMG]

That sucks! Sad to see that! On the bright side, you get to live another day and tell the story, plus insurance should take care of the material parts (car).

If you select a good body shop, that car will be as good as new when repaired.

Sometimes you can get insurance companies to pay for diminished value. Try for that.

That'll buff out.

As Spenk said, it's nowhere near totalled. A good body shop will make it look like new again. If you're worried about a CarFax report, keep the photos you've taken. The damage isn't that bad, really.

I don't think that's totaled but an insurance company should be able to pay for the diminished value of the car. You can get a lot of life out of that WRX. If you have any performance parts on it and they're damaged (looks like an exhaust system could have been damaged) make sure you have the receipts for them.

That's most likely not totaled and it's just the reality of driving an automobile. They get hit, they get dented, scratched, etc. It just sucks when it happens to a new car.

I had bought a new car in 2012 and hit a deer on the way home with less than 100 miles. The car was wrecked pretty good, but not totaled by insurance. I felt like you do, why would I want to hold onto a car that already has a major accident on it's history.

So, I traded it in. Trade the car in as soon as it's repaired if it bothers you that much. Get another vehicle, and lose your equity in exchange for peace of mind. The longer you hold onto the car, the more it's going to depreciate with that on the report. It's really get rid of it now, or never kinda deal.

Good luck

I would not want that back.
I've seen a good bit of issues with cars never being the same after being rear-ended and the whole replacing quarter panel issue bothers me.

I feel for you...my 9k 2013 was recently sideswiped by a boat trailer. After going to a solid shop it's looking great again.

Not totaled. I'd go after his insurance for diminished value, though. Also make sure the repairs are done by a reputable body shop, with mfr parts.

Bummer about the crash.
I am amazed at the professional quality of crash pictures lately. Back in the day, you would need to carpool with a sketch artist if you wanted to have evidence at the scene of the accident.

i remember back in the day we were told to have a disposable camera in the glove box for this.

now we dont really need it since we have smartphones that are capable of high quality pics

I'm too lazy to read everyones replies so I apologize if this has been brought up, but make sure to verify that there is no frame damage on the car. If there isn't it probably isn't totalled. But who knows; paint, body work, glass, wiring, etc. add up real ****ing fast.

Sorry to hear. Looks like about 7-8K in damage. This will really hurt the trade in value down the road if that is a concern.
