Lightbulb New dealer information

I spoke with Bob Peters at Thomas Motors today. He told me some interesting things. First of all, they are going to be a single point Subaru dealer by October, which means they will only sell and service Subarus. SOA is going to come in and redesign their building and everything. He showed me the new design, with a great big fireplace with a Subaru symbol in the front. He also told me that they are the only dealership in town that is not marking the prices up on the WRX's. They have 35 on order right now, and one at the dealership ($23,995 - auto) He was very interested in forming a relationship with AZ Scooby or the I-Club. He is going to try to bring the WRX to Speed world on Sunday, along with some brochures on the re-design. He assured me that the service department would be very cooperative and mod-friendly. We may even be able to get special deals. As it is right now, I have some of his business cards, and if you bring one with my name and number on it when you buy a vehicle, he will hook you up, as well as possibly give a small cut (~$30.00 - $50.00) to AZ Scooby! If anyone has any interest in possibly developing this relationship, let me know.

Have a Nice Day?

Thomas Motors!?

All of that sounds wonderful, except for one little hitch. It's Thomas Motors! Pretty much everyone of us who's been to Thomas Motors has had a bad experience.

I think that's just what we call "pillow talk". He's just saying that stuff because he wants to get in your pocketbook.

I think Thomas Motors is going to have some serious sucking up to do if they're going to be our "dealer of choice". If they're getting help from SOA, then my SOA contact should be able to find out. I'll see if I can't summarize the stuff we've discussing here and send it to SOA this weekend.

Interesting news. I haven't dealt with Thomas so I don't have horror stories.

I have had numerous bad experiences at Thomas as well. I bought my car there, but the service since has been horrible. Supposedly, they got a new service manager there a few months ago, and when they change over they are supposed to get Subaru certified repair people. But, the whole thing may have been wishful thinking. I just wish there was a decent dealership to deal with. I haven't heard anything bad about Camelback except their prices. They charge more for everything, in my experience. Maybe if we developed a relationship with them they might come down in their prices to where everyone else is.

Thomas Motors used to be Pitre Bell Road. They changed their name a year ago (between the time I ordered my car and the time I picked it up).

They're the idiots who put screwdriver marks in my dash and wired up the alarm system so poorly that the driver's door switch didn't work and I had to re-wire-tie the wiring under the dash because it fell in front of my break pedal.

Thomas Motors. I'm having a hard time buying this.

Yeah.. I have had nothing but poor service at Thomas Motors.. but I did buy my car there, and I thought it went well.. I dealt with fleet sales , so that was part of it.

If Thomas Motors is doing the re-design, mod-friendly, and willing to meet with us, maybe we can work them to improve their service department? Its a very long drive from my place... but worth it if they improve service.

Regardless of prior crap service, I would be willing to give them another shot if this is real not just fluff.

I hope you don't believe this. Their service department sucks. They look for any reason NOT to do warranty service work. I just got my car there and they did not want to do the things we had agreed on when I bought it. They finally agreed to do the work but only after me being pissed off. It took them all day (8:00AM to 5:30 PM)to detail the exterior of the car.
I believe I am not alone in feeling this way. I have had three experiences with them on three different vehicles ( Rodeo, Trooper and my RS )all end up in me being pissed off.
As far as being single point, I was told they are splitting up the facility. The old Isuzu side will be Subaru( with all the bells and whistles)and the other will be their Isuzu and Kia sales. The dealership will look nice, but same old same old in service. Did they also tell you that the dealership is changing hands? Now it is being run by Tom Pitre( Thomas Motors) and will soon be back to Bob Pitre ( soon to be 21 Bell ). The large signs on there lot "everything must go" is just a marketing ploy to get unsuspecting people believing they might get a deal. Nothing is going to change other than family members and the name again.
I have an open mind, if someone has had a better experience or can allow us to have better service I'm all for that, but until then F^*K them. At this point it just sounds like a sales pitch. Isn't Bob Peters just a salesman on the lot?

No offense to Puregraphic.

Me too, IF this is real! We need independent verification. Not just the word of a salesman with an erection.

I say **** them! Let's build a relationship @ Camelback. I'm sorry that I am cusing, but I've had alot of problems there.

I left my car for a week to have 5 things done on it. They called me on day 2 saying it was all done. I called on day 6 to let them know I would be picking up later that day. They hadn't done anything yet at that point. I cursed up a storm on how some ****ing moron there could tell me my car was done when in fact nothing had been done.

Moral to story. Burned once, shame on you. Burned twice, **** them.

I think I am detecting some hostility. My question would be 'have there been any personnel changes done to improve customer service?'. If not then it is the same old dog by a new name. Work with Camelback and see how they do. The best part of that deal is the centralized location.
