Lightbulb Let's Go For A Drive

We had discussed this a little at the rally-x, (and I am jonesing to go drive my car through some corners) but is anyone interested in going for a drive this weekend?
Possibly on Sunday?
I'm not looking to go for a 500 mile trip, but I do want to go and hit some curves.
I was thinking of going up to Prescott the back way, and playing in any snow that is up there.

Anyone up for it?

Mike

That would be going thru Wickenburg, then up Yarnell hill, then thru the White Spars forest.
Unfortunately I was just reminded by the wife unit that I can't take a long trip on that day, (it would take probably 4-5 hours) because of a previous engagement.
But I am going to go to go for a drive out to canyon lake.
So if anyone is interested just yell.

Could be a little muddy also with the last rain.
Sounds like a good idea.
If it is gravel, will I need to worry about getting some mud flaps so I don't chew up my paint?

It might be up for the back road to Prescott, but you won't catch me dead on any serious gravel stretches.

Depends how fast you go!

I'm not saying your paint is safe, but.. It's really smooth in most places, it's a thin layer of loose dry dirt more than gravel, go down it at 70 and you get a great pink dust storm that follows you. (So I've been told)

There are some small rocks out there though, so I'm not saying you're safe, but people take their regular cars down there so it's not bad at all. Red and I have both been down the length of the road more than once, and if you really get scared, you can always turn around and crawl back up the road to the tarmac! (What was that about a sissy bed wetter Kastle?)

I'm not scared, I just don't want to ruin my 1 month old paint, thats all. I will buy some mud-flaps and put them on the car, then I wont worry about it, and I will go have some fun up and down that dirt road.
Are there ever alot of people on that road, or is it pretty well empty?

Naw, you just need to not worry about your paint. It'll all chip off shortly anyway.

That road is an absolute blast to drive! Unless you get stuck behind someone pulling a boat.

The 'boat people' start using the road around 9:30 or so. Earlier is better than later going out.

You should go further up on that road, say up to Apache Lake. The road turns to gravel, and there are some really nice twisties.

Not sure if I'm playing golf yet...I'd love to go though.

LMAO...

*picturing Danny's teeth falling out getting mixed up with the loose gravel*

Hey Dan, anytime you wanna come back to Cali, I'll run you up through Decker Canyon, all 2nd-3rd gear stuff, and some nice stretches to blast through. Go through around sunset, and you can catch a couple of glimpses of the sun setting over the ocean...... breath-taking, and the scenery isn't bad either.

And maybe I'll have to scrounge for a road trip to AZ, so you can show me some good spots. I've always wanted to take a balls out run through Oatman, lol.

Cool

Dan,

Put some softer springs and a lift kit on that bad boy and come ride the Apache trail with us!

I can't go all the way to Prescott.

But I am going to go out to Canyon Lake.
You are more than welcome, it will be in the morning time. A friend and I are going to take our cars out there, play around a bit in the dirt, and then dive back.
Just let me know.
