Default 99 Legacy GT EJ25D Swap to EH254

I have a 99 Legacy GT that had an EJ25D ... Blarg head gasket..... I recently picked up an EJ254 engine. I have read that this will swap in and that I would need an ECU to run it. Can I just plug & play the ECU or will I also need to do a wire splice?

The EJ25D ECU has different harness connectors than all of the other EJ25s. You will have to do some serious wiring harness work.

Awesome thank you for the reply Patrick, this helps with the headaches I was about to step into. The main reason I was considering this was becuase of the heads. I am trying to get back to a 99 EJ25D head. Is there a difference between the EJ25D - 96 head and the EJ25D 99? As I understand the 99 had Shim over buckets and the 96's had HLA's. Can a pair of 96's be upgraded to shim over bucket or is the lesser of two evils to just find a good pair of 99's with the shim over buckets?

It would be cheaper and less hassle for you to just pick up a set of 98-99 EJ25d heads, they really aren't that expensive at ~$300 or so.
