Post New Justy Group/New Member

Hey all,
I've been sculking around in the shadows for 3-4 months now, figured I'd join up. Anyway, seeing that there's not much about the stealthy(lol) Subaru Justy online, I started up an owners group on Yahoo Groups. The addy is: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/subaru_justy Not looking for any flame; I know many of you probably hate these cars, but I figured any Justy owners/fans on the board would be appreciative. Thanks again.

Geez, I forgot about the Justy Actually, if you have one of the automatics with the CVT tranny that's pretty cool, from a technical standpoint at least. I don't think any other U.S. car has used a CVT. If I'm wrong, please let me know.

Hmm, I know there have been other CVT cars... none come to mind though; I doubt there were others in the US. The Justy automatic proved to be WILDLY unreliable, and I've heard of them failing as low as 60,000 miles. That's why you opt for the standard, I suppose.

Question

I may have a chance to buy a '91 4 door GL AWD, what's good and bad about them? This one has some rust in the typical places, and a 5 speed. I mainly want it to get more into autocrossing and rallying in a cheap way. What are your thoughts?

SoobATV: That's great! I'll be sure to stop by there even though I am just a fan. I tried to buy a Justy a few months ago, but couldn't find any with AWD in my area, ended up buying another Impreza.

Anyway, coming from the 3-cylinder camp, you should check out www.delphi.com/turbo3haven You'll find plenty of other displacemently challenged owners there, myself being one of them with a Chevy Turbo Sprint.

SoobATV,

I think that is great. I'll be stopping by the Justy forum when I get a chance even though I don't own one. I think those cars are pretty neat. With gas prices the way they are, that car would seem to be the car of choice to drive. I was in the market to either buy a Justy, SVX or XT turbo and got neither one of them. Seemed like all of them has their pros and cons. Only thing I could find that was really 'bad' about the Justy is that the replacement parts are expensive. The brakes tend to wear out prematurely but other than that, everything else was tolerable. I hope you're having fun in that ride.

I kept thinking that if someone could manage to bring out around 135-140hp from the 73hp version (1800lbs) that you could be running in the 14's in the 1/4 and be able to keep up with the Type R. I got issues so don't mind me. That turbo 3 link in the other post looks like it would be a fun place to hang out.

Actually, I don't own one... YET. There are two '88's with 5speed and 4wd in my area; one for $100(potential parts car) and one for $350bo. Looks like I'll be checking out both on Memorial Day. If nothing else, these will be entertaining test drives.
