Why? It's lighter than the outgoing car and it has the highest hp rating of all the cars in its class (GTI, ST, MS3, SI).

I know we all want our supped up econobox to be faster than a Ferarri 458, but 0-60 in 5-ish secs is a fast car and the DI will give you that performance with better gas mileage than the old car. Seems like a good compromise. If you want more, I'm sure the aftermarket or the STI will help with that.

I don't hate the appearance and I'm excited about Subarus new focus on handling. Looking forward to the reviews.

Well, as you can see by the temp tags...I just made my decision. Thanks a lot Subaru for making it a simple one. Before anyone jumps down my throat I've been waiting over a year to see what it was going to look like before I pulled the trigger on another car. My #1 choice was for a WRX...After seeing it, I then new immediately what I needed to do. 2014 Evo X..welcome home.

I'm really confused though...that EVO is pretty sedate looking. Nice soft body lines, almost nothing going on with the back end. Sweet altezza's...

The new '15 WRX looks worse than that? Interesting...

Hmm. Well...I guess you have had 6 years to let the Evo's looks grow on you.

That may well be the case. And in 6 years maybe I'll buy a WRX or STi again. I'm obviously not a brand loyalist. The 2015 WRX as of right now does nothing for me that makes me want to run out and buy it.

You will as soon as you test drive one. And to think, no more paranoia of busted ringlands. That paranoia was one of the reasons I opted to depart from my '11 STI.

The front of the '15 WRX looks a lot like the front of the '12 / '13 Impreza. Hope they make a hatch version stateside.

reminds me of the 02 bugeye because nobody cared about the looks and only cared about the performance. after 11/12 years, you would think they would make a good looking sedan like the WRX Concept, which was perfect. This is way too humble of a car visually for a WRX. Impreza yes - WRX no.

WRX's will always be an Impreza that robbed the parts bin. I'm not surprised at all it looks like this. The front bumper carried over from the concept. keep in mind tho, I think if the concept was made production it would be a lot more expensive and their sales would drop. Like all of the next gen wrx's it will grown on us and with all the mixed reviews I feel they will give it a face lift, and you know its only a matter or time before they release the hatch, which may look awesome.

Glad I didn't want another AWD car and went for the BRZ. I'll keep rebuilding my RS before I buy one of those hideous things.

Ugly rims, ugly interior, ugly nasty rear end. Front end looks like a giant gaping mouth! They are using the impreza gauge cluster. What happened to separating the two car lines????? The whole thing screams IMPREZA with a WRX badge! The concept was a very cool looking car!! Shame on you subaru!

2.0L cool. Possible to achieve better fuel economy, a huge concern of mine.

6 mt. Awesome! Hopefully it's geared like all WRX owners want. The same as what we got now, with a 6th gear.

Direct injection. Uh oh. Is this gonna be a problem?

Obv, it won't be as torquey as the 2.5 but I have confidence that the car should be a nice option for people to consider. I haven't seen anything on the new turbo yet. Is it larger than the current turbo?
It will actually be more torquey. Torque is available from 2k rpm through 5500 I believe. That's compared to 3400-5500rpm on the current model.

Current model can't hold peak torque for any length of time.

This will be PEAK torque from 2-5200 rpms. That's constant power.

Current WRX can only peak from around 3500 to 4200 before it drops. The 2015 is going to be an entirely new driving experience. That powerband might not make the car faster in stock form, but for daily driving, it's going to feel SO much better.
