The body actually has very nice lines and cues. It's too bad they went with red on the unveiling. There was way too much light on the car which hid a lot of the lines and creases in the body. It's a good looking car. The hardware sounds promising; 2.0L, twin scroll, elh, no uppipe, 6spd... it's all good.

I've been thinking about my car future in the back of my mind. I have essentially a brand new WRX and while I love most of it, there are particular things that I don't like (seats, sound system, gas mileage, the dashboard/interior cheapness, the key).

I am really looking forward to the reviews for the new WRX once it's out. I'd sorely miss the hatch but I think as long as the seats fold down I can live with a sedan. Sedans just don't look as nice in general though imho.

I was toying with the idea of switching away from Subaru altogether for my next car to try something different like an entry level luxury sport. I don't need the acceleration of the WRX... I just want it.

/30 year old

(By the way, I LOVE the seats in the BRZ. Most comfortable seats I've been in. Where can I find cars with seats like those?)

If Subaru puts the Levorg bumper inthe STi and gives it 325HP standard with nice 18" wheels (oh the humanity with the new 2014 WRX OEM wheels!!!), they have my money if the price it at $35K at the most. But chances are this is not going to happen, so Subaru: Sayonara.

I really dislike the new design, much more dislike than prior models. Even the bugeye and prior model hatch, which I really disliked had more character than this one. If they made the concept a reality I would buy it in a second. Unfortunately, I will be looking to replace my wrx soon and this most certainly will not be on the list. Sorry Subaru, you really have to get it together in the looks department on these vehicles. Why does it look like a civic to me...I just think civic when I look at it, and what the heck is with the hood line in black? Could you have made it a bit more discrete...looks like someone took a sharpie over the hood.

Again with this silliness...... What looks like the civic?
The red colour?

Seriously if you don't see the massive difference between these cars, good luck with your new car search.

I'm not a fan of the new design, but I do think that if the STi gets wider fenders and a more aggressive front bumper cover and splitter then it will be alright. I just think that a lot of people were expecting something a bit more after what they saw with the concept. I didn't expect to see the actual concept put into production, but it would have been nice to see a larger percent of it then what the final car shows.

The front is OK, but I don't care for how droopy the rear end looks from the side. Nothing can make me like the wheels.

Like many cars, it may look much better in person. I don't feel like my 13 is very photogenic, but it looks great in person.

It's just so ... busy. And wtf is up with those rear windows? Subaru is smart to keep the turbo and lucky to have such a big aftermarket for these, otherwise there is zero appeal.

I think the pics you posted kinda made his point actually.

The new WRX seems like it is a bloated 2010+ Legacy GT that is trying too hard. A sort of anti-mullet - party in the front and business (yawn) in the rear.

My last comment about this, I promise.

1. I thought this would not look like an Impreza (because they said so)
2. NY Auto show - where is that car? (Audi makes them look like that now, its not some futuristic concept that is unattainable)
3. I am sure that the new 2.0L is a much more powerful platform that would be easier to mod to get more power out of. Just like the CLA45 right?

bye bye SOA, it was a great ride.

Congrats to my buddy for getting the 2014 last week before they are gone!
Good choice (did I mention he wanted a 2015, but then saw this).

Man, your buddy is going to kick his own ass when the embargo ends monday and the first drive reviews come out. Initial hints are that this car is SO much better than the outgoing model.

Hindsight's going to be a real bitch this time around for some of you all.

Got one of the last new hatches made and thanks for the advice! Resell value on the 2014? I think it should be solid thanks the sedan only option now.

This comment made my day, thank you sir. lol

From looking at those pictures, it looks like the subaru would be the next step above the SI, for example.

I see a massive similarity. Look at the similarity in side mirrors, roof lines, even windows are split into 4 on both cars and look pretty much identical. Hood slope, rims, headlight shape, rear end shape from that angle looks pretty much identical. Thanks for making my point

No Wagon = Lost a customer

I'll keep my bugeye wagon going. I've always liked the bugeye, this Vulcan eye front is fugly

I'd be all for the torque curve though if the spec is accurate

Or should that be Spock Eye.....

My $0.02 - I am happy to see a revised power plant, 2.0l, twin scroll, elh, yadda yadda yadda... But the WRX is a special car, one that shouldn't ever be confused with any other car. For example 02-03 'bugeye', you're picturing it now, the styling queues, the different look, and you've never mistaken another car for a bugeye. Now the 'blob-eye', same situation, I personally have never once in my existence confused any other car on the road with a blob-eye WRX. Then my personal favorite, the 06 'hawkeye' with it's 3 piece grille, never mistaken and recognizable as far away as the boxer rumble. Then 08 came along, and for the first time ever I confused the WRX with another car - which is sad because I owned an 08 WRX at the time. I feel like the new WRX will have this same issue - and with elh will not 'feel' like a WRX. You shouldn't need to drop a car for it to look like a performance vehicle. You shouldn't need to add lips and spoilers either, it should just be a good looking car that screams performance. The amount of money I dumped on making my 08 look how I thought it should have come from the factory was too high, and I see the issue overflowing to this model as well. I hope I'm wrong.

Same here.

All the haters make me laugh and smh. It's like ground hog day, every time there is a redesign/update... and yes they usually say stuff like "no really.. I dislike this redesign more than I disliked the others..."

I don't really care for the look at the moment. Subaru obviously wasn't going to release the concept although I thought it would be nice if it was closer to the concept. I do however believe this new rendition of the WRX has a lot of potential. Once after market parts become available, it has the ability to look real aggressive. For me, The hawkeye generation did that.

No but it's true this time, they really messed up and I dislike it more than previous models.

Haha, yeah we were all disappointed NOT to see something closer to the concept but outside of that, it's 100% par for the course for the WRX and perhaps a couple clicks to the positive compared to previous revisions.
