"Code of Conduct"

There you go! That's what me and my hippy wannabe ego wanted to hear, not some arbitrary rules about sticker display from some SBW Intel Biznatch

Good job Aaron, and thank you all for your efforts.

Wow! I wish I had time right now to read all of this. I'll try to respond to it later tonight (sorry, I do have to work for a living). At a glance, I only have a couple of things to say. First, I think we all have the same objective here. It's the methods of going about it that we disagree on. Second, we need to be patient and try to find some middle ground. Many of us are pretty strong headed, so the going may be difficult for a while. However, the end result will be the better for it. Patients and tolerence.

I'll try to respond to specific points later.

I will be renaming the Membership Rules to the "Code of Conduct". I will review the "Code of Conduct" tonight. I will personally ensure that everyones concerns are investigated. After I review and possibly post a modified "Code of Conduct", we will move on.

OK, I think we're getting somewhere now.

Aaron,

I'm sorry to hear about your trouble. I left before you did or I'd have helped as well.

All,

I think some people are misunderstanding what I'm trying to do here. I'm not against getting organized. (In fact, I've been arguing that we need to get more organized for quite some time). I just have some very real concerns about how we're getting organized. I agree with what we're trying to accomplish, I just believe we need be very careful about what rules we impose on the membership. I'm trying to make sure we organize the club is such a way as to make it as strong as possible.

Let me give an example. If we want to eliminate street racing (and I think we should) the put it in our charter or code of conduct that street racing is grounds for termination of club membership (possibly subject to a club vote). Don't make up rules about dodging around or caravaning to events.

Here's another example. If you think caravaning to/from events is a good idea (and I think it is) put it in our code of conduct that "members are encourage to form an orderly caravan to and from events to draw attention to the club and help maintain a positive image. Don't mandate that members shall caravan.

(Sorry to pick on caravaning, it just made a good example in both cases.)

That's what I'm trying to accomplish here. Please don't take my objections as an attempt to derail this effort. They're quite the opposite. (I'm trying to keep it on track and get people involved.) Also, please try to not get too frustrated working out the details. Like Aaron said, It's gonna' be a lot of work up front and the reward will come later. Stick with it.

-Bud
