I definitely get your point and agree with you.
Mainly just me complaining about no hatch option.

I don't care if the STI is hatch only or sedan only. I'd buy one in either form if they get a direct injected 2.5 closer to 350hp. With other companies getting 300+ out of 2.0's I don't feel like it's too much to ask.

Count me in the "yes" group (I voted). Not sure if anyone with any sway is going to read this thread but I wanted to be another voice voting for the hatchback anyway.

I'm counting on getting years of good service out of my 2011 hatch so the lack of a hatch for a few years shouldn't affect me as long as nothing really bad happens. But I hope this is just a temporary hiatus for engineering cost reasons (which is perfectly understandable) rather than a permanent thing. I would like to be able to consider another Subaru when my car does need to be replaced, but it's not likely I'd consider anything other than a hatchback or wagon with a manual transmission. And nothing Subaru is apparently going to be offering as of 2015 will fit that bill and be as much fun to drive as a WRX.

The only places for people to go to replace a WRX hatch will be either FWD platforms or luxury vehicles, and both of those have some pretty serious compromises involved.

The WRX hatch is exactly the kind of vehicle that is Subaru's strength! Great all around car with fun and utility combined in a good balance.

If there's not going to be a WRX hatch anymore, then I at least hope they give the Forester XT a stick shift, or bring over the Levorg (with a stick) or something.

I propose this. Go to your friendly Toyota dealer. Buy a new Corolla. Put a Subaru badge on the front......there ya go. 2015 WRX.
Then you just get a Subaru look alike. If you owe a Subaru for look, boy you must have bad taste. Also you must be blind and stupid

Yeah, Subaru's have never really been runway models except for the GC's which quite frankly were like the femme fatales of the Subie family.
If you've never owned or at least driven one, you would never know haha! I'd definitely not buy a new Wrx now. I'm sure they still have the soul but have clearly lost the hypnosis for irresistible desire.

This is why I may get a Forester XT or wait for a turbo Outback...If I want a performance hatch back I'll probably have to go to Ford or VW,

No 5 door no sale for me. I love my 2012 5 door sti. The 5 door is much more usable for me. If no more hatch I will have to find some other brand it is a shame because I really like Subaru. Last year I bought a Outback for my wife.

It already has two doors. Just don't use the other ones, and you've got a two door car.

I think the hatchback/wagon is something Subaru should consider. Especially for the WRX...I could understand if the STi didn't come in a wagon or hatchback.

Ive had a 2005,2006 and now a 2012 hatch and I like the looks of the sedan better but the hatch is just so convenient. To me its more squatty and bull dogish as well. Previous owner put smart springs front and rear and to respond to an earlier post about the newer models being softer i don't remember the 05,06 being as stiff as the GB IMHO. I think that the handling is sharper on the GB as well.

Actually, I must say, I finally went back into the Levorg thread and looked at the actual vehicle developed, not just that image on the front page, and I would absolutely buy that if it was in WRX trim. The image on the first page looks like a tiny minivan. the videos showcase how that is not the fact.

After 9-Years and three Subaru hatches (two of them WRX's) it's BYE BYE Subaru for me until they bring it back.

Can't vote because I don't have enough posts yet but I've had an order (and my car was just delivered today) for a WRX hatch because of the sedan only rumors...

I would've waited if they released a hatch. Wagon would be even better.

Being generous (as per the previous sales distribution of 50/50) and handing half the maybe votes to hatch and half to sedan; it's at:

148 hatch
77 sedan

Obviously this will end up biased toward hatches as most of the people who don't care will not participate in the poll. Fascinating to witness the superiority complex that some people have. No one is under the delusion that NASIOC is the gold standard for Subaru to decide what to do with their products, or that it is their SOLE source for market study...it IS however, a valid datapoint just as any other focus group study would be.

We're asking for an option people, you know...to have both. I haven't seen anyone wish for the death of the sedan. I just don't get the anger that some have.

I haven't seen any anger toward the hatch here, and I'm sure everyone is for having more options.

My only issue with this poll is that the OP seemed to make it with the intent of swaying Subaru's decision .. and no poll, thread, or petition on this site has ever swayed Subaru on anything.

Subaru made the decision knowing full well that the hatch is popular ... And they cut it anyways. I don't understand their reasoning, and I have no doubt we will see it again in the future ... but it won't next year.

The mistake subaru made in 2008 with the wrx was fixed because WE bitched and moaned so yes they pay attention. WE r the reason the 2011 wrx also got the wide body. Bottom line we do make a difference because SOA listens to this forum.
