haha I noticed it was marked 7 ways to sunday

Well...on the o-rings...unless I go with bigger studs, I'm 'safe' on the gaskets alone, since I'm not going to push it til they lift...If I get bored with the power, I'll pull it have it machined for bigger studs, o-ring it and shoot for the moon

If I honestly thought I was going to get to this point I probably would have done all that, but again, things change as time goes on, opportunities arise and big got bigger...

Not yet...waiting on the turbo to show, and then meeting up to grab it...and maybe a few other 'things'

Update:

Made some progress this weekend, still short some parts i spaced out on...so slow going I guess

Manifold is ready to go on now

Heads were already on, tq'd down, rechecked them and put the cams in and buttoned the heads up, got the water pump on and all that, would be timed too but I forgot to order idler pulleys (dumbass move on my part)

We only got ~4hrs in on Saturday, shop doesn't close til 3, I had somewhere to be that night, he was busy Sunday, this coming weekend he's not around so I might grab the car and get more of the fuel stuff done at home pending weather, then we should be pretty close to ready to pull it...

I've been slacking badly on the updates here, everythings been crazy busy, fitting in week nights from 6pm-2am (and getting up for work at 5) when I can and my buddy is available (since the car is at his shop) and regular life stuff, but anywho...the car runs

here was the motor a few weeks ago all together and timed

We ran an -8 feed, -6 return, as shown below, under the tray, hung it every few feet or less depending on how it sat, as well as a 4ga to the battery for the fuel, pressure tested all the lines to 150psi (and held at 150psi for a few minutes) and cleaned em out good.

Electrical setup before it was all finished and neatened up and now nicely concealed where the IC sprayer tank used to be

radium surge and bosch 044's, i thought i had a final picture, but the feed and return for the hanger go out bulk heads and under the car and over the tank, they even clear the cover for the fuel pump and the ENTIRE fuel setup sits in the wheel well so im going to make an aluminum hatch so that its completely separated from the car, I'll get an updated pic of all this

gotta run to a meeting but ill update more later this morning

meeting over, conference call time, which means more update time...

In the middle of all this, I decided my DD needed to go (2009 disposable camry) and went out and bought this...which will be a toy once my forester/sti conversion is done, until then, 18mpg on diesel it is.

motor out...start to a long saturday night

after the new motor was in and all that was about when I figured out that the 2.5i manifold puts the throttle body ~3.5" further back...so siliconeintakes.com intercooler piping assortment + AMS core = new FMIC setup...just waiting for a friend that does fabrication for a living to weld the piping together for me, my aluminum welding skills are sub-par, so this is the new setup...dont mind my blurry pictures...it was a long night...

The PTE turbo is going to sit differently, so that very last piece will need to be redone when I swap turbos after the motor is broken in, and it will likely be powdercoated the same color as the IM when its all done

Also, once the turbo is swapped out the upper coolant reservoir is going, so the 5 minute bracket will go as well lol

well, the car is running for the most part and home...I'm having a problem with it breaking up and hitting fuel cut going into boost...

I've replaced everything but the MAF and Coilpacks at this point, either from just putting new sensors in (from the dealer) when I put the motor together or just replacing them cause I said 'hey i have a spare brand new sensor, lets try that'

Tomorrow I'm likely going to buy new coilpacks and replace them and see what happens, MAF shouldn't matter since I believe I'm SD, but just wait for JR to get back to me to be sure.

At this point i've checked the brand new plugs, regapped them to .028 just to be sure the .030 wasn't too much, tested for boost leaks and verified none, verified that I'm maintaining fuel pressure and its increasing 1:1 with boost, I may get a second gauge for an opinion if the coils don't fix it. Logging my AFR is solid at 11.1 as i go into boost and it does occasionally drop below 11 right when I feel fuel cut, so only thing I can logically think of is that the coil packs have seen better days and are firing off as well as they used to.

Jr does awesome e-tunes and your in Texas correct? If so once I have some miles on my car for break in. Jr assured me it's no big deal for him to fly out and do a final tune on the dyno. Being that I'm also in Tx I'm sure he could do both cars at the same time.

Last we had talked about it he had mention boost logics in Austin. I know he does a lot of tuning there. So that's what I've been planing. I believe I've finally figured out the issue I've been having with my car. So hopefully I can get Jr down this way before to long, as long as all goes well with break in.

I'm getting tuned by jr somewhere, I can promise it's not going to be at BL though lol he tunes at prime motoring, p&l, shift fast, I think tmw still, maybe somewhere else as well...only e part of my tune is my base map to get the car running and broken in...I know he's busy as hell so I try not to bug him too often (unless I have good reason to lol)

Update:

All my little issues are gone, I replaced both o2 sensors and the coil packs (planned on doing it anyways) put some fresh gas in it and things are going much better...about 100 miles on it, things are looking up...now just need to swap out the turbo kit, put a few more miles on it and then tune time!

What's going on with the tranny? Wasn't the 07 going in it and then you changed your mind?

Sticking with the 05 or is something else in the works?

So I have a brand spanking new 07 tranny sitting in my basement, I decided that's going in the forester, and I found something else I want in the STI thats even more indestructible...and I own it...I just have to go get it...and its going to be sitting behind a triple carbon clutch, and behind it will be a DSS CF drive shaft, and some level 5 rear axles

Default finally...

I FINALLY got a chance to make some progress on the car this weekend.

I got the front coilovers installed and adjusted, ride height where I want it, the rears are coming soon, the bolts just refuse to budge and the bottom bolt is right next to the axle boot so no O/A torch to heat it up while its on the car...I have to take it apart to press the hubs on anyways, so I'll just do it all at once...not like the car is going very far until then.

Manifold/Turbo is all on, IC piping and Intake made, I'm waiting on a vband clamp to come to attach the downpipe to the turbo, somehow i managed to get 2 3" clamps instead of a 3" and a 3 5/8"so as you can see in the pictures, the downpipe is hanging by zipties right now. I still have to remove the rest of the intake from the UR kit, but that wont take long at all.

All thats left at this point is the drivetrain really...finish up the rear coilovers, install axles and swap out the r180, swap the driveshaft, tranny and clutch

Here's the 6266 next to the 3076r

Oh, and some traction came in the mail

One sey header...

Turbo pre-intake/ic piping

With intake and IC piping

My wife asked me the other day if I had any idea how much money I've spent on the car during this build...I told her even I don't want to know LOL
