Lightbulb Stop searching for ET and help cure cancer

Those of you running the SETI (and other) screen savers should check this out: The Intel® Philanthropic Peer-to-Peer Program . Use your idle CPU time to help cure cancer.

I am running this at work and now at home. Though my home PC is a feeble PentiumII 300, it has a cable connection and is on most of the time. I think it is pretty cool to be able to contribute to a project like this, especially when it is so easy

...and you called me an SBW for doing this. Look what your fellow i-Club members are doing: An Impreza For Life . You should be ashamed of yourselves.

Bud - dont take offense at my comments. Meant as a joke.. My father-in-law and brother-in-law both work at Intel.

Kastle - http://dir.yahoo.com/Science/Compute...ting/Projects/

yahoo pages lists 13 other distributed computing projects.. I am sure there are many more. Personally, I like looking for aliens and I really like the Seti software and the fact that it will run every OS I have at home.

3 @ home for me.. 4 @ work.. I would run more at work.. but it slows down our nightly backups which already take a long time.

John,

Don't sweat it, I'm not offended. I knew you were just joking. I just don't agree with either statememt (thus, I have to take exception). The microprocessor , invented at Intel, has done more to change the world then anything else in my lifetime. I have very few heros, but Intel was founded and developed by a few of them. Men like Andy Grove , Gordon Moore and Robert Noyce exemplify what it means to me to be an engineer. It's the marketing people that are evil.

Kastle,

I think you're an alien.

Don't blame Intel for Microsoft and I think you'd better look again for Unix on Intel Architecture. There's plenty of it.

"Don't blame Intel for Microsoft"

Then who do we blame?
