^ Saw that at work today. I'm very torn. I worked for Porsche for 4 years and Currently work for Audi for the past 4 years. All I have to say is Audi makes some badass commercials. I don't know who is going to win. Audi has been talking some smack. Wonder if Porsche is going to be the slow and steady wins the race? Granted Toyota is on fire this year...

I hope they are smart enough to add RLM into that video or I'll be doing lot of refreshing.
This race is going to be so awesome.

Looks like they took the WEC app and made it the Le Mans app, and didn't carry over the WEC premium purchases.

Yep. Apparently, it is licensed independently...a little underhanded that they didn't make that clear when it was released and everyone spent $$ on the season that isn't even the full season.

Loic Duval suffers horrifying crash during Le Mans practice

Loic Duval has been involved in a terrifying accident in the No. 1 Audi during practice.

We do not yet know the condition of Loic Duval after a massive accident during practice today. From the extensive damage to the catch fencing, it appears that the car went airborne. Photos from Twitter can be seen below.

The crash took place at the exit of the Porsche Curves. We are still waiting on a medical update on Duval. He was extracted from the Audi and taken away in an ambulance.

The car has been "rebuilt" (with a new chassis). In other words, it's a whole new car, but the #1 Audi will compete. Duvol will not though, as a precaution.

The Audi Le Mans team had a terrifying moment yesterday after their No. 1 R-18 e-tron quattro car was obliterated after it slammed into a wall during practice. Thankfully, and in what can be seen as a testament to the safety of modern race cars, driver Loic Duval was unharmed.

After we learned Duval was alright, the question on every Le Mans watcher's mind was this: What's going to happen to the car? Will they bring in a spare chassis and use that instead, or just run two prototypes instead of three?

Neither. Instead, the Audi team worked overnight to rebuild the car. And as of this morning, they're nearly finished. The transformation from yesterday's wrecked pile to race car is nothing short of incredible. UPDATE: Despite the misleading tweet above, it sounds like they brought in a new tub and built a new car from all the parts they had on hand.

Unfortunately, Duval won't be racing this weekend. Reuters reports that while he suffered only some scratches in the crash, doctors have disqualified him as a precautionary measure. Driver Marc Gene will replace him in the rebuilt No. 1 car.

First round quali was last night, I believe there is another qualifying session today.

Three of the drivers that drive for the IMSA team I work for are over there: Tom Kimber-Smith in a P2 Zytek-Nissan, Paul Dalla Lana in a GT-Am Aston Martin, and Markus Palttala in a GT-Am Porsche.

It's interesting, when I saw the pics, the first thing I flashed back to was the Peugeot flying into that very same wall upside down a few years ago. I'm betting close to, or the exact same thing happened where the car was upset through the bumps, which pitched the car over.

The second thing I thought of after that realization is how in the hell in a section like that are there no safer barriers, or tire walls to attempt to slow the cars down prior to the true impact. I'm pretty sure when the Peugeot hit it broke the wall.

It definitely looks like and sounds to be confirmed that the car went into the wall upside down and backwards with a substantial amount of impact on the cockpit. In the first pics you can see the door was ripped off and his head/helmet outside of the car. Definitely a damn frightening impact, which the Audis have been seeing almost on a yearly basis. You can really tell how hard they are pushing the cars.

This will definitely be a great race, can't wait to blow my weekend!

Interesting fact too I believe the new driver was the driver of the Peugeot that I remembered

Saw this today at work.

Glad to see a driver be able to walk away from something that looks like that. I was also able to take a tour of the Audi team while at COTA and with what they bring to the track I knew they'd have a car ready in time. The amount of parts and people they have on hand is amazing.

Q3 ended under yellow. Looks like Toyota is on Pole with Porsche next to it. Audi went Purple with minutes to go, but officials did not lift the yellow flags. I would have loved to see the top guys go out for 1 or 2 more full speed laps.

There is no reason an LMP should be harder to see from behind in the rain than an F1 car.
