Default What is white stripe for on top of Sparco steering wheels?

What is white stripe for on top of Sparco steering wheels?

I assume:

to center wheel more quickly when you are watching the gravel.

or to make the driver aware of suspension damage from last stage, because the stripe is now 3" to the right on the straights

Give that man a cigar!

I put yellow tape on my steering wheel for rally-x. I find that it's really helpful in getting lots of "what's the tape for?" questions, and is worth absolutely nothing else with the stock steering ratio.

If I were running 1:1 steering lock, maybe it would be a huge benefit. At the rallyxes, though, all I see is this yellow blip fly through my field of vision several times on a turn.

Even 2 turns lock to lock would only have the tape at top either centered or at full lock, but consider the other use- " to tell that the suspension is damaged when your going straight and the tape is over 3" from where it was before the hit"

I think most racing-spec Subarus are running 2.5 turns lock-to-lock. The stripe would still be useful then...

I do like the "alignment-meter" theory!

This is worth doing if you drive in the snow. Sometimes you can't feel where the wheels are pointing, but you don't want to take your eyes off the road.

I lost my clock to the Defi pod. I might strap a wristwatch with a bright strap to the top of the steering wheel to try it out. Maybe I'll just use a leather strap, that way I can see AND feel the thing. Or maybe I could just slow my azz down.

I get whats the tape for alot to
I rock my tape 24/7. it also adds to my yellow accents on my car inside and out.
It really helps when driving. and you can just see where the wheel is when turning.

Actually this was my first mod. ( if you can call it that)

Gravel
Sparco makes some steering wheels with white stripes and some with yellow.

I used yellow electrical tape on my stock WRX steering wheel, matches the yellow trim.
