Hey,

My significant other and I got a silver WRX wagon about a month ago (still working through the break in period) from John Howard Subaru on the mileground. Where do you take your subie for maintenance work? Is John Howard service any good? Any independent mechanics that know subarus? Anyway, I drive around the University a bunch, and downtown, so you might see me. It's bone stock right now...but still faster than all the little riced up hondas and cavaliers tooling down High Street.

Hey Quarky........I think I have seen you........Im up in stalnaker hall........I think I saw you in front of the lair...........anywayz i have not tried much w/John Howard yet..........My buddy Garrett from home(near philly) does my work for me, he is a subaru mechanic......for routine stuff like oil changes I have not had problems doing it at Jiffy Lubes, when i cant do it myself, but if you do take to a jiffy lube i always watch everything they do on my car...........I was home recently and basically did my own 30k mile service, im at 27k now..........changed all the fluids myself, my brake pads might need some replacing soon......20+ autox's will do that! BTW im the blue rex w/morette head lights painted to match and have a bpm GT turboback...........well see you around Dave....

Default Local (Morgantown, WV) auto-x?

Mikey,

Do you autocross locally? I used to do events with North Hills Sports Car Club north of Pittsburgh, and with the Steel Cities Region of the SCCA (again, based in Pittsburgh), but I didn't know if there were any local events. Are there some here? If you drive to them, how far are you going? I'd love to get the WRX out (expecially now that I have a rear sedan sway bar to put on), but don't feel like driving to the 'burg.

Thanks

Quarky

Hey dave.......

I searched around alot and dont think any take place right no in mo-town...........about an hour and 10 min south of here, they auto x at Quincy, WV..........riverside HS. Yea i went to beaVeRun north of pitt, but thats a 90 min hike.........I wish scca would put on some events here, they would get a good crowd from the university(both penn state and ohio state have autox).....the stadium has a big enough lot for it, but since its not organized or anything, its a big thing to start one.
Im def. going to the quincy wv one on nov 17, they have one down there this weekend, but i may be heading home for some stuff........

Default Auto-X in Quincy, WV?

Hey Mikey,

What group runs the autocross in Quincy? Is it SCCA or a local group? Do they have a website or some contact info? I'd love to head down, or try to convince them to come up and do one here in the WVU stadium parking lot. I agree, there should be plenty of people around here to fill a sunday. It's good to hear that John Howard is a decent place. I'm heading back there for service pretty soon.

Hey Auricom: what are you getting your MFA in? I know a bunch of people around here who do pottery...

Nice to know there are a few folks in Mo-town.

dave,

www.swvrscca.com ........southern west virginia scca heads it. Im going to be down there for the nov 17 auto x, which will be my last of the season, after that the re-92's go back on or snow tires. Yes it would be awesome to have scca events here in mo town, the participation would be there. Would you be up for heading down for that one? I may try to talk to the head and see if they will come up to mo-town for one.

Mikey,

I think I'll be out of town for that one, but I'll have to check just to make sure. We can always wait until next year to head down. If it's only a bit over an hour away, that's not too bad.

I teach political science: PS 103 - Global Political Issues. Sort of a "there is a world out there beyond West Virginia" course. I don't know much about the cluster system here, since I just teach and don't have to advise anyone.

I'll check out the swvscca website and see what's happening. I would think that we might be able to convince them to come up sometime next season to Mo-town. It should probably be sometime during school, as there are more people around here in April/May and Late Aug/Sept/Oct than over the summer.

Pitt is like an hour from there, right? Mid-A is centralized to DC, and that's about 4 hours from Morgantown.. hell, looks like I'll have to move over to Tri-State.
