Default TXS Stage 4 + UTEC + 50 Mile One Way Freeway Commute = Am I In Trouble?????

This may seem like a weird question, but it looks like my commute for work will change drastically within a few months. Instead of driving ~7 miles one way to work, I'll be driving ~50 miles one way to work.

Furthermore, those ~50 miles will nearly all be freeway miles (i.e. cruising at 80mph).

My question is...will I be in trouble due to what I'm reading about open-loop driving? I mean, doing a constant 80mph for a half hour or so...will that put a strain on my Stage 4 kit (up-pipe reliability) or mess the the UTEC in any way (open loop)?

I know that in general, freeway miles are less strenuous on an engine since there is no stopping and starting, but I'm also concerned about this open-loop business.

Oh, and getting a cheap beater and keeping my WRX for weekend driving is out of the question.

Besides, I wanna drive my WRX every day (and I can't afford to have two of them...one stock and one Stage 4).

Any thoughts?

No problem bro, hit 300 miles on my last tank of normal city/hwy driving. 80MPH at WOT is a MUCH different story, on the highway your in closed loop and the stock ECU is keeping you at Stoich, which will conserve fuel. You'll be fine:-).

Thanks a lot man...it's just that after reading a zillion posts regarding CELs, they almost always occured after cruising at a constant speed for an extended period of time.

You are talking about the “catalyst inefficiency” CEL, which you will get with a stage four. Why you are worried about getting one is beyond me, because all the reading you have done on cel’s would have told you that a P0420 code will not hurt you car at all. Just buy the stage 4 already!
