Post State Meet map and directions...

map

There is a map to the state meet location, for all that are interested. We are in Phase II, pavilion C of Cullen Park. I hope the link is working properly, but if not, here are written directions to the park.

Take I-45 South (for the Dallas people) and take I-10 west when you get into downtown.

Travel on I-10 west until you get into (new) Katy, and exit Barker Cypress Rd where you will turn right at the light.

Take Barker Cypress to Saums (I think it's the third light) and turn left.

Now you should see part of Cullen Park on the left hand side. Go past Phase I of the park (where the velodrome and soccer fields are), and about 1/3 of a mile down on the right, you should see a sign for the Phase II entrance. Turn right here.

Follow the road around the curves, and we are the last pavilion on the right, Pavilion C. Across from us are the baseball fields.

If you are coming from Austin via 71 to I-10, you will exit Barker Cypress as you come into town, and take a left at that light. Then follow the above directions from there. If you come in from 290, there are a couple ways to do it. You can exit Barker Cypress from 290 and turn right, then when you are closer to I-10 you will turn right on Saums. Or you can take 290 to 610 W to I-10 West and then follow the above directions.

I know I am confusing it more, but I think everything I said up there is close to correct.

If anyone has any more questions, please PM DanzBorin or MissDanz.

Sorry if it doesn't make sense.

An alternate...and more scenic route...for you DFW folks is to take 35 South to Waco. Take Hwy.6 out of Waco through Hearne, Bryan, Navasota...to Hempstead. Take 290 East out of Hempstead and exit Barker-Cypress. Take a right on Barker-Cypress to Saums Road...approx. 10 miles. Go West on Saums to the second possible right turn (the first is Groeschke Road)...and follow the road to the last pavillion on the right.

Thanks for the various directions. Anybody know where a good self-serve car wash is somewhere near there? I gotta make sure my WRX is good and clean before I show up on Saturday!

Sure...

Instead of turning right into the park, just continue heading West and take a left on Fry Road...which is the next major intersection. There's one on your left just a hundred yards or so from the intersection, and another one on your right closer to the freeway...in front of the WalMart.

You must mean right on Fry if heading West, Rich.

Directions seem good. Not confusing.

Also, I believe Dairy Ashford & HWY 6 exits are the ones right before Barker Cypress.....there's a possibility there's one between hwy 6 & barker cypress.....someone else can prob tell you for sure.

Nope, there's nothing to the right off Fry if you're heading West on Saums. Go left, or South, at the Fry/Saums light. There's a car wash on the left...close to a Jiffy Lube type place. There's another, newer car wash closer to I-10 on Fry. It's right between the Denny's and Pancake House restaurants...out in front of WalMart.

Oops, I was assuming we were talking about I-10 West. Sorry. You are correct, sir.

I'm just so glad I can already know where to wash my car before seeing y'all! I'd hate to have all the bugs and stuff on the car. Gotta bring it all shiny and clean, right? Thanks again for the information. Looking forward to the trip and the event.

I live RIGHT there (not in the park but in the official west-side ghetto apartments on Barker Cypress)

CAR WASH CLOSE BY on BARKER CYPRESS!
For the car wash, as you exit I-10 on Barker Cypress to drive (north) to Saums road, you'll top a hill (small levy type hill) right after the light at Park Ten Road. As you top this hill begin looking to the left. There is a coin-op car wash next to a gas station quickie mart. You can't miss it. My apartment in on the right -- don't go there. LOL.

Ohh and bump. This was getting near the bottom of the page.
