There's a strong possibility I'm working that day, but I'll be up there if I'm not.

DFI man..... Damn Fine Idea. I like it. I'll go this Saturday at 10 and see how crowded it is. If this were in June, I'd say there is a slim chance we'd have room, but the first week of March just might work. Only downside is no covered parking.

It's going to be hard to find parking that's covered. I stay away from malls on weekends... they tend to get crowded

So I'm thinking we have a have the primary location be Alki. I'll narrow it down from there; there are lots of parking areas along the beach. As much fun as it would be to watch the parade of cars looking for "the right" lot...

The Northgate Mall can be the alternate "bad weather" location.

I visited both locations last weekend and there were surprisingly few people in each location @ 10am.

**** i might come just to see some fozzies. After seeing bizzarboxer's fozzy that he just sold recently, I might need to show just to look at some more. I didn't know i might want a foz until i saw that one.

Sounds like some bad planning happening. Alki has like no where to go?

I disagree. I'm not certain where it is you "want to go" at a car meet? Most folks all park in one area and look at the other cars.

The Alki Beach area, more specifically the Don Armeni Boat Ramp @ 1222 Harbor Ave SW, Seattle WA 98116, is VERY popular for meets like these. NASIOC members have meet here numerous times in the past, as a location to "meet up". About 10 SubaruForester.org members gathered here to convoy to the Griots meet in Tacoma last year. That was on a weekend at about the same time of the year, btw, and we were the only ones in the parking lot.

The parking, views and photo opportunities are all in abundance here. There are picnic tables and benches in the parking lot areas. Food is closer than the last meet at Griots. The restrooms are of the public variety, but if that's an issue, take a 2 minute drive down the road.

Drive up to 1.3 miles up Alki Beach or California Ave and you have a choice of 42 resturants/pubs/coffee shops, the closest of which is less than 800 feet from the Boat Ramp (.15 miles). For example, click here

If the turnout is lower than anticipated, we can drive a 1/4 mile to Hamilton Viewpoint Park which is also a good photo opp location and equally close, if not closer, to food/pubs.

Hey all... if you plan on coming and haven't voted in the polls or mentioned it in this or one of the other threads on the event, please PM me or post up. It's 5 weeks away and I'm already hearing "through the grapevine" of people that are coming, but haven't spoken up. Last thing I want is 80 people to show up and not have anywhere to put them.

The planning and organization can only be as good as the info I've got, right?

Thanks!

I am pretty sure I will be able to make it! I like Alki as the location as well. As long as it's not pouring down rain, it should be fine. Not like we will be out in a muddy field or something.

I'm not Forester, but love West Seattle / Alki. Lived there for a long time in the past. Would like to do my first meet up at the landing.

Curious if you are still running E85. I switched back to pump fuel for the winter...

How is this bad planning? He's been planning this for a bit with a couple polls set up prior to this thread.

I'm running the E85 every 3rd tank or so. Just for giggles.

Heads up: The Landing meet will happen on the 30th next, but the location is going to change based on a poll on the Renton Meet FB page. There was some ass-hattery (from several folks unassociated and not necessarily members of the regular group).

I'll add you to the maybe group for now.

Just the few times I've been to alki didn't think there was any suitable parking for a car meet

Huh, well there's ample parking at the Don Armeni Boat Ramp. You must think of after you make the turn past the lighthouse, in that case yeah there's not much there for meets. So, eugeneutopia definitely knows what he's doing.

The Don Armeni Boat Ramp has 62 parking spaces on the east side + 18 on street and 34 on west side + 13 on street.

No parking ANYWHERE in the middle though (the actual boat ramp).. coast guard hangs out there and will kick you out (and maybe us too).

As I write this there are 23 confirmed and 22 maybes. Some of the confirmed will doubtlessly not attend for various reasons, and some of the maybe will attend, so that should be a wash. What I'm (very) concerned about is the people who are lurking and won't RSVP. I've seen up to 25 in the lot and much of the street parking taken without calling too much attention, but if we end up gaining another 20+ over the next 5 weeks (and I don't doubt that we will), we are going to be pushing some buttons.

Of course, we will only get the same amount of attention as we draw to ourselves. That being said, asshattery will not be tolerated. Please don't ruin it for everyone else. Please DO make the civilians reconsider their opinions of "those racer/ricer boys and girls" that they will doubtlessly assume we are.
