Default Aftermarket hub and quick release

I've been looking into going with a short hub and a quick release for my 04 sti.
I have already removed the stock steering wheel and have found out my stock clock spring is broken.
Now I know when you use a NRG short hub that you have to remove the clock spring. In others opinion is it worth using the nrg hub and getting rid of the clock spring or have most used the works bell hub and kept the clock spring so yet could use the horn and turn signal stalk

The main question I ask all of this is since my clock spring is broken will the horn and turn signal still work without the clock spring and just an nrg hub
