Turboback is from the turbo to the muffler. This includes downpipe, cat, midpipe, axle-back muffler. Catback is just the midpipe and axle-back muffler.

Catback is also smog friendly, where as turbo back may delete the cats totally. I'm not sure how strict they are in Kansas, but in California they are ridiculously strict.

If you want to get a enviornmentally safe turbo back system just get one that has a high flow cat on it. They're much less restrictive then the OE cat's and do the same job. You can get downpipes with them and/or midpipes.

There are two cats from the exhaust manifold back. One on the downpipe and one on the midpipe. But yup, you're right. A turbo back goes from the exhuast manifold back, while a cat back just goes from the midpipe (or 3rd cat) back.

Yup. You can do that. You just need to make sure that you get a midpipe that the same diameter as the DP and the exhaust.

Lovely California. I looked into both and found out the turbo back is illegal in Cali. I'll be getting COBBs' Cat Back. But i will be sneaking in TuboXSs' UpPipe
