Talking rode in a yellow WRX last night...

...and I liked it better than the wagon. My friend (Bob, for those of you who were at the Springs meet) did a pretty aggressive launch and the car was off like a shot. It seemed faster than the one the Subaru rep took me out in. The yellow is...different. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna buy one.

Smarta$$. I plan on getting a WR Blue sedan. Yes, the coilovers will be the first thing installed.

You might want to check yesterday's autocross results Gary...

I really don't think you want to taunt an ITR at an autocross, the car really is that damn good. If you look at raw times (a big leap, I know, I couldn't stay out of the cones), Larry was the only Subaru that was even close.

The WRX is going to need a really good suspension to have a prayer.

Eric, that sounds like a challenge.

Paul, I may join you in that endevor. I'm 99.9% sure of getting a WRX. It'll be blue and not have too many toys. I can't believe I'm giving in. Oh well, it'll be fun. Running stock will be a challenge

Rolando -

Stock? Screw stock. I'll start modifying mine as soon as I get my grubby little paws on it.

No taunting coming from this end. You know how much I like the ITR. To be honest, I could care less about competing. I just love to drive...

Eric, you of all people know how much I like the ITR (even though you haven't let me drive it )!! Along with Paul, driving is 99% of the fun involved

Paul, I'd love to modify the crap out if right out of the box too, but from what I've read the suspension doesn't completely swap out. A full exhaust will be nice as well. Hmm...and STR WRX (I love the rules saying "small displacement turbo engine" ). WHAT FUN!!

The only thing I am caving into right now is race tires for the April 22nd event - I got permission to run on that Sunday!

The STI in 2-3 years will be when I dive in.

Well,

I rode in Paul Brizal's Red WRX today, and drove it. My imprezzions...

Seems a bit tame vs my car, but in 1st and 2nd gear when I was following Paul his car gets up and goes. With me early shifting at 5,500 rpm he could keep up with me (my car now pulls hard into the rev limiter since the upgraded IHI and injectors). Side by side in 3rd gear his was no match however (unless he was in 4th )

He is still shifting at 5,000 - 5,500 until he gets more miles on it. I know his car will get better as it breaks in, since I remember my RS picking 10-15% power after the compression came up at 500-700 miles after break in.

The suspension was quite soft with generous body roll, reminding me of my stock RS suspension - adequate, but I agree with Paul that coilovers would do it some good.

And, none of those wonderful whoooshing BOV noises were to be heard, although the exhaust has a decent tone to it.

Lastly, the factory upgraded stereo is not as nice as the one that came with my RS. The bass is not as tight, and the highs were mutted and flat. Adjusting the tone controls was no help.

This car is better than a stock RS, but I would be modding it right away if it were mine. Just an exhaust, intake, flywheel and pulley would make this car pretty fast at stock boost, I would presume...

Good review Larry, it's great to hear your review of the WRX. I'm also glad to hear you'll be using race tires at the next AutoX. I'd love to get a ride with you then (I'm going to get my own helmet this week!) Perhaps you'll be keeping up with that civic next time

Geezz..I leave for a day and look what happens . How does an RS with coilovers compare to an ITR? I've never seen them run each other. This'll be more fun after more money comes in .

If I give rides, it is always my first two runs. Tom, you will like it a lot more with race tires next time However, I will be buying my new brake pads and strut bar and 15" wheels before the 4/1/01 winter season autocross - but no money left for the actual race tires till after the 10th (unless JCS sponsors me )

So for the first "summer-season points" autocross on 4/22/01 I should have them mounted.

I think you need a rear strut bar, I really do. A chromoly one... from me.

Honestly... you can actually adjust your camber slightly with my bar... seriously!!

We'll see

I have to calculate my finances. Thank God my accountant will only keep half our tax refund, but we haven't even started the tax forms yet!

PS: I also need to be ready when Diz decides I get his coil-overs

Hello Colorado, from Byron & Vickey, www.B-SpecUSA.com We picked up a yellow WRX, and even though there were complaints about the yellow not being bold enough ... it suits Vickey perfectly, especially after adding some nice white Advent Model 6's. We've got some aluminum flywheels in stock (11.5 lbs) and are installing ours next week, along with springs, intake and exhaust (as soon as we finish fabricating ours for Vickey's car). If any of you are seriously considering lightening the flywheel, e-mail Byron to check ours out. We're hoping to make it out to CO for a race or event in the next few months -- love that drive! Vickey.

WOO HOO!! 555th post. Thought I'd spend it with my friends

Now to the topic:

I don't know whether to wait for the STi, turbo mine, buy a WRX or what the heck to do I guess after I drive one, maybe that will help make up my mind.

JJ - Wait for the STI?

B-SPEC - The yellow is NOT bold enough unless you are excited by post-it notes However, the blue and silver are to die for.

BTW, I realise now that you visit the CO forum since Byron had many of his early mods from JCS. Correct?

Byron is originally from CO. I believe he still has family here too. The vehicle he has was originally built by JC Sports, but Byron has taken it much further. That car just scares me (I loved the ride I got in it ) and I got a ride in it over a year ago. It's changed alot since then (or that's the way it looks from pics )
