I have an auto but I have no clue about the mrt or m2 downpipe, sorry. I have the BPM GT turbo back and it fit perfect. Arguably it's the best DP for people running a stock turbo. The only problem that I did have was that when I took the stock DP off I found that Subaru cross threaded one of the studs at the factory.

Also I have a AEM C.A.I. I would suggest you just do the silencer mod and get a drop in filter. Also, unless your heart is set on using the GFB BOV , just stay using the stock one. It works great except you dont get the pshh noise. Or if you do want the noise then go with a bov that is 50% atmoshpere 50% recirculating (sp?)

Of couse if the gfb bov is a 50/50 one then you can tell me to shut up

Im running the MRT off of an IHI turbo and like the performance end of it. Its nice and quite but produces some pretty nice performance. The best part is that u go up against the civic with the 5" IM AN IDIOT exhaust and u can still his here annoying pipe a good 100 ft after you've blown him away. On a side note, Im gonna be upgrading my turbo again and am also looking to get a torque converter and tranny cooler, have u guys heard of any out there, ive heard murmuring about one but havent seen a site with them yet.

i have the aem cold air intake so far on my automatic ride and hate to say but its coming off, lost low end torque with it and the car is not as responsive as it was, so going back to stock airbox and K&N panel filter with silencer mod, i might go with the mrt turbo back, hearing lots of good things about it, plus i have the gfb 50/50 bov

why would you buy a auto with a car that has so much potential. the whole rpm band is there at your foot and hands waiting for you with a manaul. unless you are for show and little go then i understand.

Actually, my Subaru mechanic says that the automatic has been timed faster than the manual tran. Says that the timing is perfect, better than any human hand could do. Anyone else hear this? Regardless, I'm quite content with the stick

The M2 looks likes the Vishnu and both should fit without any probelms. I haven't heard much from M2 so you may want to see if it's still available. The only thing that you have to look for is a cat-downpipe type. The auto trans is a bit larger so clearance becomes an issue. I have the Scoobysports exhaust and like it alot. If I were in the market now to get an exhaust, I'd buy the Vishnu in a heartbeat.

The silencer mod and BOV are sounds mods to me. Yes the silencer mod will allow the engine breath a bit better but Shiv doesn't do it for his staged kits. Some people have had problems with installing an after-market BOV and have gone back to the stock one. IIRC, Gary Sheehan of Sheehan Racing had faster lap times with the stock unit. I have the silencer mod performed and it does sound cool. If the Zerosports intake pipe uses the stock air box, that does like a nice alternative to hacking your airbox.

As far as the "Which tranny is better debate", I have an auto and manual and enjoy the auto more.

ProTorque is the only company that has been doing torque converter upgrades that I know of. Most of the people are using the Hayden coolers.

Everyone with an auto should check out www.projectwrx.com
and see what Jorge has done.

Default i have an 02 silver sedan auto

i was thinking about getting a manual, but with all the problems i am hearing about shuddering in certain gears i am glad i got the automatic. For an automatic i am impressed and so is everyone that i have taken for test drives. they have various sports cars and freinds with fast cars. They are like damn this is fast. I have some questions about the automatics. first is does anyone know how many automatics they made of the sedans for 2002. Also how much mileage do you guys got on the automatic transmission? Is there any problems that u find like with the manual transmissions. i just recently bought the car a few months ago i have 1300miles on it. I havent been or drivent the manual but from my stock auto this car flies. No problems have creeped up yet like chips, squeeky windows. Although when i wash the car water moisture seems toget on the rubbeer behind teh windows. I love my car and ia m glad i got the automatic.

The amount of automatic WRXs sold the first model year was around 6,500 out of around 36,000 sold. I have the excact numbers at home and I'll post them later.

I have 16,500 miles on my 4EAT and I have had no problems. I drive hard every chance I get. I have learned to control downshifting pretty well just by manipulating the throttle, although sometimes I manually shift to take away any uncertainty. It is a pretty decent auto as autos go, it is pretty smart. When you drive a certain way it knows to hold the gears longer. I am pretty happy with it, although I wish it was a 5spd with a good sportshift.

I owned two Subarus with 4EAT (now my WRX is the 3rd) that have over 65K miles on them. I drive pretty agressively (I have my Reckless Driving Conviction to prove that ) and never had any problem what so ever. The problems with MT WRX, on the other hand, is not new. Those are the same problems happened with any other MT Subarus before. Just search the archive of this board and see how many ppl compainted about the same thing back in 98 when RS is first released.

I will stick with 4EAT until Subaru released a newly redesigned MT.

I have a 4eat, the low end was kind of a drag with my high altitude. But after doing the torque converter and Vishnu stage 0. The car drives really good. the car jumps to 40mph very quickly just by mashing the gas. If I really want to go fast I'll do a brake torque launch and it really snaps my neck back.

theres a secret society of 4eat owners on this board. they are all wired from the coffee they are constantly "drinking while crusing in traffic". they also have really strong left calves from brake torquing and autoxing with both feet on the pedals.

they are here man, mention MT>AT and they will freaking jump out and kill you. if you mention AT<MT they will all jump out and tell you how right you are. and then they all go home to riftswrx's site and sleep.

My 4eat helped me come in 2nd place at bracket racing this weekend. I won $200 thanks to the consistancy of the 4EAT. Woohoo! The 4EAT is definately slower. The best I ran was 15.73 at 92.33 MPH. My only mod is a cat back exhaust. I was only lanching at 1500 RPM. The 5 speeds that were racing were running 14.7 but the at a lower MPH than me..usually 90 or 91 MPH.

Bringing the thread back alive!

So actually I've been rocking the auto tranny for 1,5 years so far and already had to rebuilt it once (don't know if it's my fault entirely coz' though I launched it at 2500 rpms half a year from a purchase is still a little time for ruining a tranny - what you guyz think?) And yes, the car is fully stock JDM WRX '99.

As of recently I've been thinking on trading my Impreza for the same model except it should be newer and with MT. However experiencing some difficulties accumulatig cash (not at least due to the crisis and my reckless driving skills which often make me invest some extra cash into the car) I am wondering right know about improving what I got instead of selling it.

This is where rises the question: what is the power limit of 4EAT w/o any tuned torque converters and coolers coz' we simply haven't got that ish here in Russia? And logically it is followed by the question what would you suggest to be my possible improvements to the engine limited by stock tranny? (It woud be nice to hear the certain names of the products)

Thanx in advance!
