Default What's the best guard dog to have?

This is the 5th time someone has vandelized one of my family's car. This time someone jacked my dad's HIDs off his 02 Maxima @ 6:17am. We're thinking of getting a guard dog now. Do you think it's worth it? Thanks for your opinions.

Guard dogs can create a liability issue. If the dog were to attack anyone. Yes, even the theif that you're trying to keep away. You can be sued.

:monkey: to the US legal system.

Damn so it looks like there's nothing you can do, but let the thieves keep stealing while you keep forking out money replacing the parts. Next time they should just knock on our door and we give them the money to go buy some HIDs so we don't have to deal with the repairs to other body parts that they damaged trying to steal the parts.

:monkey: car thieves that don't know how much it is to fix the shiet they left behind

Actually... if you're interested, someone's selling purebred pitbulls in the Private Classifieds. Lemme find the thread for you.

How about Dobermans? I just read the profile on them in digitaldog and they sound like great dogs to have for protection.

Why not move! Perhaps your neighborhood isn't what it used to be?

Haha! That could work. But it would also cost so much more. Oh... and take up a lot of time. etc.

Many on this forum have met my "advanced home and car security system", a/k/a my pitbull, at meets. She's a cutie! And basically harmless. But when she barks at seeming intruders, believe me, they give a second thought. (Many were warned not to pet her while she's eating steak!)

This is not the case with Paisan's dog. (Miniature poodle.)

Yeah that's the other option.

Looks like I have to do more research. So far a Doberman, pitbull, and german shepard look like viable candidates.

Default Any BIG dog will do

Any dog you get, that is of medium size should deter any unwanted people. I had a Black Lab that was the sweetest dog in the world, but acted like he would shred you to pieces if you came near the house. He had a very BIG bark and no Bite. Get a good mannered dog that can still look vicouous ( sp ??) and that should do.

Nhabi (my pit), like most pits has a pretty wimpy bark. And she looks very friendly because of her floppy ears. But when people see her hanging by her teeth of large sticks while her neck is tuggin away, they start to think about their arms in place of that stick.........
