Default 2015 WRX/STi order thread

Just placed an order for a 2015 Premium 6MT in CWP and will report back with initial impressions when it is delivered hopefully in May.

For reference, I've owned an 08 2.5i, 2011 WRX, and currently own a 2002 WRX with 189k miles at stage 2+.

My main concern with the 2015 is the switch to electric power steering. After owning the 2011 I am looking forward to the chassis improvements but my VW has EPS and it totally kills the "fun" factor when driving. From what I've read, Subaru did a pretty good job with it but I'm still leery.

I'll update when I receive delivery.

In addition to the Subarus mentioned above, I've also owned the following. While no expert, I like to think I'm an amateur enthusiast when it comes to cars and driving pleasure.

e39 M5
AP2 S2000
e90 330i
e36 325iS
F80 135i

Congrats on the order, is this your first brand new car purchase? Be sure to post pics of it/plans for it asap. How did you go from the Bimmer scene into Subarus if I may ask?

I've gone back and forth between BMW and Subaru. I get really, really bored with FWD cars, especially living in a snowy climate. Like a lot of people on here, a car is more than just transportation from A to B. Every time I drive I want it to be an engaging experience and BMW and Subaru have provided this the best for me.

As for plans, I will most likely keep it stock. The only accessory I ordered it with was the SSK, so I'll report back on how that feels.

I hear ya, I'm from the Midwest and aside from the necessity of AWD 5 months out of the year, it's a pleasurable experience to drive. I have always dreamed of getting into an old E30 M3, I need haven't committed to robbing any banks yet.

Congrats on the order! I plan on putting an order in fairly soon, once I figure out financing. Don't want to order and then have it backfire. Looking at a WRX Limited or an STi Base

I have electric assist steering on my Crosstrek and the only differences I notice are that when I go full lock, I don't get ear splitting squeels followed by a self destructing power steering pump. When driving, I notice zero difference.

Good to hear. From what I've read Subaru did a good job transmitting feedback through the EPS system. Hopefully it is better than the new 3-Series.

I was torn between the WRX and the STi to be honest, but couldn't justify the STi with the carryover engine.

Nice, I just placed an order for a 2015 Pearl White WRX as well. Got it through the Costco Auto program for a hefty discount off MSRP.

ETA: middle of April, shipped straight from Gunma, Japan.

My "advisor" said that even though the timeframe currently says middle of April, they are running 1.5-2 months behind (at least on the Launch Edition STis). I'm planning on late May/early June and if it arrives sooner I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Hopefully that figure doesn't include WRX's. Although I'm curious what the production bottleneck/rate-limiting step is.

No worries. Subaru is like a zen master when it comes to electric steering pumps. They had them on the XT-6's back in the 80's

Seriously though, congrats on the purchase!

You think they are going to sell a brand new car for under invoice that's not even out yet? Why would they do that when they will have trouble keeping them in stock?

Exactly. I only found a couple dealers when I bought my 2011 (before the tsunami shortage) that were just below invoice.

I am considering replacing my 2013 STi with a 2015 WRX. The new engine looks much better for daily driving and the WRX gets the 6 speed and now handles just as well as my current STi if not better. I bet it is more comfortable too. Now just to find out how much it'd cost me..

I'm looking forward to the improved economy over my 2011. I have a feeling with the direct injection and 6MT it will be easy to get 30mpg hwy without much effort.

Don't know if this is the 'official' orders thread, but I just came back from my dealer here in Annapolis--the clock is now ticking for my WRX 6MT premium, galaxy blue, exhaust and short throw shifter, upgraded stereo and a few other little things.

I was told before the end of May for sure. I should hope earlier.

Unfortunately it looks like you have to get the Nav with the stereo so hopefully it is better than the last version that lots of people had issues with. While I was at it went the extra 500 for keyless entry and start (not having the keys dangling down against your inner thigh is worth it IMHO)

It'll end up costing close to the limited but I find the leather in them cheap feeling anyhow and I don't need LED headlights.

I cross-shopped this against the projected audi S3 and VW Golf R. I think those two would have an obvious upscale interior compared the the rex, but I can only assume when all built out with the things you want, you're talking well north of 40K. Just couldn't justify it and I've been happy with the subies I've owned over the years. I'm crissong my fingers that the improvements in handling, interior finishes and the sound system will not leave me wanting for much for the next few years at least.

I ordered my 2015 wrx premium for 1k under invoice friday. Paying to have it shipped to ny so I'm just a little under invoice but still 1500 below what I can get at a dealer in my area. PM for details for anyone interested in this deal.

But congrats to the OP, I bet your as anxious as I am for them to be delivered!!

Yes, they will.

For those that are resourceful there are many 15' wrx's being sold at $1000 below invoice and many more being sold at anywhere from $500 below invoice to invoice and slightly higher.

I'm just a little over invoice. That, combined with my good local dealer, doesn't make me want to shop around and deal with shipping/travel.

I'm all about people squeezing the best deal possible though!
