Just called the place. $750 engine, and $50 for the ECU and Wiring harness if I pull it. An extra $125 if they cut out the wiring harness. I would rather not have it cut out.

Now Dave, what was the stock HP on that car? Also what would you guess it would be with 11 lbs of boost and my exhaust? Think it would be at least where I am at? Granted I want a lot more, just low on fund since the dealer screwed me and I am sure this swap will cost a lot.

Stock, at 8.7PSI with restrictive intake and exhaust it's 160hp, 181ft/lbs.

11PSI with a good intake, intercooler and downpipe and you'd be right around 200hp, 210ft/lbs, but that might be conservative.

Your exhaust will work, sorta. You'll probably have to do some hacking and welding on the downpipe since the legacy is longer than the Impreza.

The ECU in that car will also have a TCU for the Automatic. Yes, the auto has it's own controller. Whether this is really needed for the ECU to work right, i can't say. Maybe JC Sports could tell you for sure since they've done plenty of AT-MT swaps in Legacy Turbos.

I'd estimate that i'm in the low 7s, 0-60, with my car at ~11PSI. You'd be on par with the new WRX in acceleration for less than $2000. Your transmission might not like it, but oh well.

I don't speak any french, but if you need anything translated just use Babelfish.

babelfish.altavista.com

It's VERY handy for those kinds of pages.

(used the language translator via the 'abc' button above)

Go to www.babelfish.com and then go to the tranlations and follow the directions from there. Eventually you will get to a place where you can enter the website to translate... I am reading now.

Lightbulb ARG tuning/whatnot

We might have found Spec a 2.2 Legacy Turbo motor for cheap, right in the valley no less. I might scavenge a few parts off it as well.

I'm still trying to find an intercooler than won't break the bank...

Q:

Where do you guys get the flexible magnets for decals in SLC. I haven't looked really hard here in Ogden, but i've only been able to find small pieces, maybe 1x1', and they're always expensive.

Where can i get some, cause i have a LOT of cool decals i'd like "mounted".

I think it is called Industrial Supply. It's a little South of 3300 S. and on either 200 W. or 300 W.

The magnet cones on a 12" wide roll. It is pretty cheap, I don't remember the actual price though.

OK DLC, I think Stimpy said that the 2.2 came with an IHI RHB52. Now say I had a RHB7, which I do. Would that be a good upgrade to make? I don't know anything about the sizing on IHI turbos. You want info on Garrets, I'm your guy, but no other brand.

I'll be honest, i don't know a lot about upsizing the turbo itself. The only one i know of is a guy who got a Mitsubishi model from a J-Spec Legacy and installed it.

The VF22 is a model i see mentioned frequently on the MRT classifieds, though i'm honestly not sure how much bigger it is.

I'm pretty sure that anything that came on a WRX or single-turbo Legacy should fit with little fuss.

Numerically the RB7 should be larger. It might be a measurement of something in the turbo itself, possibly the length of the vanes in cm?

What I am guessing is that the RHB7 is 7cm dia. inlet. Which would be about 2 3/4".

Additional stuff i dug up:

RHB is usually followed by a VJ #. ScoobySlack's XT turbo is an IHI, and i think i remember a VH4 on it. This page has some Mazda stuff on it with some IHI part #s:

Info

The RHB52 was used in the turbo Escorts from 84-86 and the TBird from 87-88. The Probe used the VJ11 from 89-91. It was also used in the Ferrari 208, Maserati BiTurbo and Bugatti EB110(x4). Fiat used them and it's a popular turbo for motorcycles. It was also going to be used in a TT version of the DeLorean, but the company supplying the parts went out of business before they could build them.

I can find very little about the RHB7, same goes for the VJ11.

VF22, 23, 24 and 28 are higher revisions of their line.
