Hey guys, I am new to the site. I wanted to get some "local" opinion on the new 2.5RS. I currently own a SR20DE powered Sentra SE. It isn't completely meeting my needs, and the new 2.5RS has caught my eye. Although it doesn't have the power of the WRX, it is closer to my financial requirements. I'd love the WRX, but it is just too expensive. I am somewhat curious as to whether the 2.5RS has gotten better or worse since the body style change over in your opinions.
I am sorry if this has been covered before, but just thought I'd ask. Thanks in advance.

This question has gotten thrown around a bit on the board. Getting alot of people saying the new MY02 RS isn't good anymore... it gained weight, lost the rear LSD, comes with 16X6.5 wheels instead of the 16X7's, lost the sunroof, didn't gain any power compared to the 01's, it's ugly and it's not fast like the WRX so it has no good qualities. I have a MY02 RS on order right now. Like you, the WRX was out of my reach in terms of price. I planned on a MY01 RS when I decided to get a Subaru but I actually like the new body style. I could care less about the extra weight or the LSD, I'm not gonna race the car regularly. I like the new one because it is bigger... looks bigger and feels bigger. The whole car seems a bit more solid compared to the old style... in the short time I've spent in them. The only complaints I have about either car is the lack of a trunk light, the cheap plastic sun visors and the doors have no frames around the glass so they are kinda light and cheap feeling. The whole decision is based on your preferances. The old gen does have a higher performance capability in N/A form, don't look for many new gen 2.5 performance parts now that the WRX is here. Whether the extra fat on the new car bothers you and which body style you prefer is up to you.

It will still be a nice car, and it's AWD which is great for Colorado.

If you're looking for a 2.5RS, have you considered buying used? You can get a screaming deal on some late model 2.5RS's with everyone trying to get WRX's.
