Hi everybody.
I completed the first version of the chomoly rear strut bar early Sunday morning. It was tested Sunday afternoon by JJ in the auto-x that was held at Coors Field. The tests turned out perfect. JJ returned positive responses as to the functionality of the bar. I took the bar off after the auto-x, it was not bent at all. Some of you got a chance to look at the bar and see what it was all about. However, you saw it 99% done. I am going to have to yellow zinc all the bars to prevent rust and to not make it look like Fred Flinstone made it. For those of you that are not familiar with what I am talking about: This is rear strut bar designed for Impreza coupes and sedans. It is made of 4130 chromoly (aircraft steel). Chromoly is one of the strongest steels out there. To my knowledge, there has never been a strut bar made for the Impreza constructed of 4130 chromoly. Strut bar is adjustable so it allows for pre-tensioning. Each end pieces is made of 1/8" 4130 chromoly plate. The bar is a straight 7/8" tube with a 0.058" wall. I have not weighed the bar, but I am sure it is not over 10 lbs in total weight. If it is over 10lbs, it is not very much. This bar is extremely strong. For those that do not race their car, you will probably not notice a difference in handling characteristics. So, for those that wish to pre-order this bar, the cost will be $150 shipped. For those that wish to wait to see a picture of the bar 100% finished (yellow-zinced and all) - that will probably be another week. For those that pre-order now, if you live in the Denver or Colorado Springs or Fort Collins area, ETA of your very own bar will probably be about 3-4 weeks at the MOST. This applies to the first 5 orders. Over 5 orders will probably be a longer wait. If you would like to pick-up your bar personally, I am in the Lakewood area everyday for work. You are certainly welcome to pick-up your bar if you would like to save on time. I will keep a list of people that have paid and pre-ordered on this message. Paypal will say the bar is selling for $140... but really it's $150. It wouldn't allow me to charge $0 for shipping, so I just made it $10 for shipping. <FORM ACTION="https://secure.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" METHOD="POST"> <INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="cmd" VALUE="_xclick"> <INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="business" VALUE="imprezzive_rs@hotmail.com"><INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="return" VALUE="http://www.impreza-rs.com"> <INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="item_name" VALUE="Chomoly Rear Strut Bar"><INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="amount" VALUE="140"><INPUT TYPE="hidden" NAME="shipping" VALUE="10"><INPUT TYPE="image" SRC="http://images.paypal.com/images/x-click-but3.gif" NAME="submit" ALT="Make payments with PayPal - it's fast, free and secure!"> </FORM> Pre-orders: JJTheSubeDriver Thanks, Tom [This message has been edited by tomrichardson (edited February 26, 2001).] [This message has been edited by tomrichardson (edited February 26, 2001).] [This message has been edited by tomrichardson (edited February 27, 2001).]
