Oh sure, Colorado get the damn WRX at their show. But not us. I hate Subaru more every day.

Jon Eric -

Good to see you here. Listen up everyone. John Eric is a good guy. I couldn't imagine him hosing anyone over. I bought my RS from him and was happy with the experience. It is nice to buy a car from someone that shares the same obsession...er hobby.

You guys know that I usually don't voice personal opinion like this, so take it for what it is worth.

Jon,

Welcome to the IClub!

I am curious as to Flatirons' pricing policy on the new REX. What prices are folks putting deposits down getting?

Well if their pricing policy is anything like thier friends at Flatirons Acura, they will load them up with as many dealer forced options as they can, hence the price will be high (for non-preorders). I don't think they will do it to preorders. My parents aren't getting a MDX because of this crap. Sorry to rant, but our experience at Flatirons Acura WAS NOT GOOD. I'll shut up for now.

I hope that the Subaru side is different and won't do this with the REX John, please don't do this to us with the Subies. I'm not ticked at you and like I said, it maybe is or probably is a different story with you folks and the REX, or atleast I hope so. Good luck and maybe I'll see you at the show. Me, I'm waiting for the STi. Taking orders yet?

JJ

Hah! I already got to see the WRX at the Detroit auto show two days before the general public was allowed in. But... I guess I can see it one more time.

Larry - Well, don't put yourself out or anything

JJ - Flatirons is Flatirons, no matter which side of the fence you are buying on. When my wife went to buy her 99 Forrester we went to Flatirons first. We got jerked around so hard we went to Valley in Longmont. Much better people, much better prices.

Flatirons only had a couple of them and gave us the old "These are really rare and impossible to find so we can only sell them for MSRP". We went to Valley and they had several on the lot. We bought for just a few hundred over invoice.

Got the same BS when I went to buy my RS. I ended up buying from a car buying service who actually bought it from Flatirons and sold it to me for less than what Flatirons was quoting me!

Now, saying this, I have never met Jon, and in fact he probably wasn't even there when this was going on. I asked him about the prices to see what he would say. My guess is that not much there has changed and they will be giving REX buyers the same BS they have always given anyone that walks in the door.

Caveat Emptor.

Thumbs up

My girlfriend purchased a 2000 RS sedan at Flatirons subaru. We had a great experience and only paid about 400 over invoice. I have had no problems with their service or their sales staff. I dealt with Larry Wiggins when we made the purchase. I don't know how they'll treat the WRX, because I'm moving back to the Bay Area soon so I'll be buying my Rex back there. I hope this helps some people.

I'm sorry to hear that some have had an experience below expectations with dealerships/ sales people in general.
The facts are that We here at Flatirons Subaru sold more than any other Subaru dealership in Colorado as verified by Subaru Central Regional Office. In addition to being number one in the seven state central region and 4th largest in the U.S. I myself have sold well over a hundred new Subies in a year, which is more than some other whole dealerships. I believe that these facts speak for themselves. I work at Flatirons because I believe in my product, I believe in my dealership, I believe in our service dept. and service techs like Bret, Dave, Daniel, Skip and Keith and I believe in myself, my commitment, knowledge and enthusiasm.
It is as important in my view to shop for a sales person whom you can trust and is a good match with your personality and interest. Therefore, If you have excess baggage from prior poor experiences, please leave them at the door. I assure you that I'll treat you with respect and concern. My highest compliments have been from those like Diz (Paul) who have brought in referals and repeat business.

I first test drove the RS at the Flatirons dealership, but bought the RS at Valley. Very nice people at Valley and they gave me a quality price. The salesman at Flatirons tried to influence me to buy an Integra.

So is there any benefit for ordering a WRX with Flatirons before the fact or will it just be better for me to wait and order my car? I am definitely planning on selling my RS and getting a WRX.I plan on buying my WRX in April maybe sooner or later. I started the whole group buy thing in SF and then ironically left before I could get my WRX. Now I'm still looking to get my WRX and I'm looking for a dealer that will give me a decent deal. If anyone can recommend anything to me (I see Valley has been mentioned a couple times) I'll look into it. Thanks,

-Brian

Chaincat,
I think that the next batch of WRX's are available in May if you order now.
I had a fantastic time at Valley, and I dealt with Debra, who sold me the car at a little over invoice.

Good luck with whatever route you choose to go.

You and everyone else in North America...

I have a feeling that by the time an STi gets here, Subaru's performance image will be so great from the WRX's becoming what the DSMs were, that they will be able to get $50k for any STi that comes over here.

Mind you, I'm not talking about MSRP - I mean that is probably the price that the market will bear for a limited-production car like that. Especially early on when everyone in the Soobie community will be rushing to buy them.

So how much do I have to put down at Flatirons to get a Rex from the May allocation? Also, does Flatirons have a certain number or percent above invoice for I-club or is everyone for themselves? In any case could the guy from Flatirons send me an email at chaincat@yahoo.com with details? Thanks,

-Brian
