Talking Springs Meet, part II

So, did you guys notice that the auto show will be in Denver on the 10th. After lunch, I propose that we take a cruise up there and badger the Subaru people. Yes, the WRX will be there.

Yeah, Rolando! Really bad idea! Why would they want to meet up here at a car show that will have, among other things, the new WRX when they can meet down there and look at some rocks...

Seriously, when you CS guys get up here we should all meet as a larger contingent at the car show. The driving won't be as much fun as on the twisties around Pike's, but there will be cars, cars and more cars...

Not very sporting for a guy that lives in....Boulder. Sorry, had to say it. That rock reference was just too good to pass up. Anyways, I would REALLY like to head up to the auto show after lunch and get some quality time with the rex.

I say we c/s people meet at Garden of the Gods visitor center at 9-9:30 am instead of 11am, drive up the long way to Denver through twisties, and eat at or near the car show!

We can hook up with those guys that live up there at lunch time! This would be like what Paul and I did for the Old Chicago meet in September.

Or, we can still meet 11am, eat at Beujo's and then drive up the back way and be back really late. Whatever we do, we should try to not miss out on driving up the back way.

Whaddayasay?

Larry

I'll probably meet you guys up here. Where do you guys wanna eat? Downtown or?? I could recommend some places downtown such as:

The Hard Rock Cafe
Old Chicago's
Wolfgang Puck's
too many others to list.

I HIGHLY reccommend we park down on the Auraria campus (I can check on prices and how crowded it is on a Sat) and walk to the convention center. I reccommend this for these reasons:

1) It is cheaper than downtown parking.
2) It is just as close as anything else we could get.
3) The chance, maybe to have all of our subies parked in a row

I think the lot I'm thinking of is $3.25, (H) and if we were to walk that would be it. If that lot is a Auraria ID only one (I'll check), then we could park in a $2.25 lot (E) and have a slightly longer walk. The lightrail is right there on campus and it costs $1.25 which would take you down to the 16th street mall to eat, even into Lo-do. Here is a link to the map of campus so you can see what I'm talking about:
http://www.ahec.edu/parking/800600d.htm

So a total of $4.50 would be for parking and very short if at all walking. For me lightrail is totally free, so I don't care which way we go I can again double and triple check on prices if this is the way you want to go.

Is there a website containing information regarding the auto show? Admission fees, location, etc?

I am certainly up for attending. I've never been to an auto-show!! I've been sheltered most of my teenage life in the woods of Idaho.

Sounds good to me. We'll meet at the visitor's center between 09:00-09:30 and head up the back way to Denver. It will be a slightly different drive for me this time. No turbo, nor coilovers. Oh, well. It will still be a blast. Cya there.

So, I take it the Denver people will meet the CS people at the show then? So, the Denver people don't have to drive to CS, then meet, then drive back?

Am I right?

Those interested in purchasing my chromoly rear strut bar for $150 shipped, please see the Private Classifieds.

Thanks,

JJ,

Definitely check out the parking. That would be very cool to find a big place that we could all fit and line the cars up. And cheaper is always better, yes?

So you CS guys need to figure out what time you want to be up here in whatever parking we have so that we can go over as a group.

Shall we all eat in Denver or just the Denver folks?

The parking at auraria looks like a go. Some lots down there say faculty, staff students only, but the one I am thinking about doesn't say that. IT is $3.25, but the price could go up for that weekend to a possible high of $10, I doubt it though. (this is what they do for broncos games). I think even at that price it would be the best deal though.

Last year when I went to the show on a saturday we drove around in circles trying to find a lot with a empty spot downtown and ended up paying $15.00.

I'll try and find out more and let you guys know, but for now this looks like a go if that's what you guys want

JJ is OFFICIALLY the "find parking and restaurant details" guy!

You tell us what is happening, where and when. We will still meet in C/S and drive up together.

COLO SPRINGS GUYS - do we meet early and eat in Denver, or do we eat in C/S and then drive up?

Mike -

I'm not too sure what time we would be making it to Denver. However, I would like to mob an eating establishment with a Subaru contingent. Maybe we could make bratmantlz happy and eat at Hooters. I'm up for anything.

C/S guys -

I think we should meet up at GOG, get a cup of coffee and split. We can grab food up there when we meet up with everyone else. Also, we can get final directions to the show at lunch.
