Default 2.5 valve question

I've noticed that a few of the heads 2.5 heads. Either D or B25 heads have multiple numbers stamped on the valves in the same head. Example ED3 and ED4. Are they the same size valves. I measured the dia to be the same. Can somebody shed a little light on this confusion of mine.
