Smile Utah meet / ARG! turbo project car........

I will talk to that mechanic that worked on Spectre23's car about doing the engine swap.
Dave said he did good work and seemed interested in the project.

I might have him to my timing belt, water pump and possibly Underdrive pulley install. it's hard for me because i basically have to go down and have him do it in a day because it'd be a pain to go back and forth from SLC.

It sounds like he knows what he's doing with subarus, so it might be worth a try to have him do it. His labor prices are the best i've heard of too!

I might have him do my Timing Belt on Friday, i can't tell if it's my belts or water pump or what that's making the racket, but it sounds like bearings.

I might have Cobb send me some UO pulleys and have them installed at the same time.

I might have him do my engine swap next week.
I think that I could dip into some credit to get it done. I would like to have it done for the meet......which is still on for the 31st. It will be so nice to have power. I hope my clutch holds up for awhile.

I would be hoping your tranny holds up and not worry so much about your clutch

Speaking of trannies, my 5th gear has been grinding on shifts above 65mph. I was able to get the service tech to duplicate it, so bearings, synchros, and a new 5th gear are ordered.

Hey mine name isn't Dave...I don't abuse my car and make it rebel against me.

Hopefully both will hold out until I get enough cash to upgrade-stronger clutch, lightened flywheel, better tranny. That wouldn't cost that much would it

ARG!!!

Not too much...

If the Yen stays as weak as it is, importing one would be relatively cheap.

Ah, there's nothing like spending a few hours on a Friday tearing the wiring harness out of a 93 Touring Wagon.

So, what's next? Having them rip the rest of the stuff off and load it onto a truck, then get the rest of the wiring harness?

The engines were both sitting next to each other and he was going to switch the cross-members. I hope he gets this done by the weekend.

DLC are you going to Cali?

I'm going to call a few places up here today and see what they can do for me, as far as a downpipe and everything else.

I'm also going to see if they've used aftermarket cats, as the Random Tech ones look very nice indeed.

Let me know if any of you find another good exhaust place capable of downpipes. I currently have JR's custom muffler out here in Orem and then Performance R&D in SLC. Though, I am not sure how capable JR's would be for a downpipe. I know Performance R&D could do it, but they cost $$.

ASR has downpipes for the EJ22 at $420, and they're 3" and have a really cool separated wastegate pipe that goes for about 6-8" before meeting up with the turbo.

Cats are available, as is Jet Hot coating.

Yummy.

Too bad you are the only one out of all of us that will be able to use that with no worries about clearences. Though, I am not sure if you can just bolt on the downpipe if the Legacy turbo motor is already in the Impreza. I know in my case I won't be able to use it.

Were you able to acquire the fuel pump from the legacy turbo as well? That might be something to look into. I just purchased a walbro 255lph fuel pump from www.jdsperformance.com for $99. I need to make sure it fits, but it should.

I don't think I would have any clearance problems with my engine bay. Being a base model car there is a lot of room w/out the cruise and other things. I am going to call some small muffler places today and see if they can do my exhaust for a decent price.

I might be driving my car for a couple of days with only the down pipe....

Hey, what the hell are you doing here!

Didn't you go with Dave and Noah to Cali?

I called Dave to ask him about his anti-lift kit, and they were already in California...
