Cool Greeting Everyone! Need help with attire.

I am from Florida, where it is always hot and humid. I am going to the Salt Lake City area for a week of mountain biking. Definitely going to hit Moab also. I'll be in Utah from July 6th to the 16th. Could someone please inform me of the normal weather conditions for that time of year. I would like to dress appropriately. Thank you for your time.

Cool

You'll encounter 2 conditions - HOT and Thunderstorms. Be prepared and you can have a good time.

Yep, like he said, it's gonna be hot. However, the rain can cool things down quite a bit. Also, it could potentially cool down at night. Your best bet is to layer up. That way, you can add/remove clothes as you need. Also, I'm sure you've heard this a million times, but BRING WATER. Lots of it. You can slurp down quite a bit of water on some of those longer rides. Have fun, I'm jealous...

Cool

Thank you Ski Man. Thank you Diz.
I appreciate your time.
Can anyone recommend the "You have to ride this trail" in the Salt Lake City area?

The Wasatch crest trail is a personal favorite of mine. It is also relitively close to Salt Lake.

Thumbs up

Yes, you will fry in Moab in July.
It is also dry; take the super-duper-sized CamelBack.
The gnarliest grade of sunblock might save your skin.

Generally people do the serious riding there in spring and autumn where the mornings are freezing, the mid-day is between "just about right" and "a little too hot", and the evenings are cool.

Be sure to read Desert Solitaire by Edward Abbey before and during your visit!

Moab slickrock trail. Real taste of southern Utah mountain biking. In July, it will be real hot and real dry. Wear light clothes (color and weight) and pack more water than you can possibly drink...then pack more.
have a good trip.

Yep, and get a real taste of the tourist trap that ride has become. What a bummer. Anyway, removing tongue from cheek, if you're going to be in that area, ride Porcupine Rim. Get someone to drop a car at the trail termination point so you don't have to ride back into town if you don't wanna. We usually do that and just take off from our campsite in the park. It is definately a fun ride with some cool views.

Also, you may want to check out Mary's Loop in the Fruita/Loma area. It is just outside of Grand Junction, CO. Horsethieve's is a fun little ride located off of Mary's.
