Thumbs up Congratulations Larry!!

I just wanted to congratulate Larry on a victorious weekend at Pikes Peak International Raceway where he took first in SM for both days for SCCA Solo II Divisionals!

So what was it Larry? The coilovers? The bar? The track?

But Larry ended up first in the points standing for the weekend, no? I looked on the results sheet on www.rmsolo.org.

Tom,

Yep...when I checked first they had the days split up. Since lunch I've looked at the total weekend scores and Larry did win SM - guess I'll have to show at the next one to give 'em some competition...errrr something

Talking

Take a look at my write up at www.ImprezaRS.com/racepage.htm for details.

Basically on Saturday I whipped up on everyone so badly that there was no way they could pass me up for total points for the two day divisional event, unless I screwed up bad or broke the car. On Sunday JJsubiedriver and I somehow missed torqueing the front wheels, and on my second run (and fastest one of the day) my right front wheel almost came off, clanking and rattling away Needless to say the car didn't handle well like that, and I wore out the entire inner tread on the right front tire vs the other three tires that have many events still left on them...

By the time I ran to the pits and found a torque wrench and 19mm socket, and got back to the grid to fix it, I was very short of breath, shaking and wheezing. And, I had left my oxygen at home so I couldn't use that for my pulmonary hypertension. I was just able to get in line for my last run.

So I went into my third run with trouble breathing, and then on the 65mph slalom couldn't get it into 3rd gear - coasting through about 200 feet of the slalom while grinding gears and dodging cones. That was all she wrote - I was 1/2 second behind cliff, but keep the lead on the total event points by about a second. Jeff Lundgren of www.groupbuycenter.com was 2nd for the event in his 8 psi SC Integra GSR, and cliff was third overall in his well sorted out M3 (despite his 1st on Sunday).

I don't think I will have a problem winning more events with as well sorted as it was that day. However, today the car is running very rich and misfiring and I am currently resetting the ECU and TCII as I type this. It get's finicky sometimes.

DaveK - I have never seen you autocross, but people speculate you would be a worthy opponent. I'll see you on the 16th at Coor's Field then...

PS: Actually, the car had a lot less "push" than it did at the world arena event, and I cannot tell if it was the coil-overs or the TR rear strut bar, but I can certainly say I don't plan to get rid of either of those!

I set the rear strut bar for a little extra negative camber, and I set the rear coil-oivers for full stiffness. I turned the fronts 5 clicks down from stiff.

As I understand it, stiffening up the rear will make the car rotate better and push less. It worked well and was very balanced. You cannot have your rear strut bar back

We seem to keep missing events. I was at the canceled Coors event - and I missed last weekend b/c of the Rally-x. I'll be at the next one...with my newly installed DMS Golds (I hope-c'mon UPS hurry up and deliver)
What tires/rims are you running now for race days?

205/50x15 Hoosier A3S03 autocross compound race tires when dry or damp, on 15x6" Legacy allow wheels. Then 215/40x17 Bridgestone S-02 pole positions on Team Dynamics Monza wheels if soaking wet.
