Default really dumb question about strut bars

If i'm putting a top mount intercooler on my '98 RS, do i have to get a JDM/UK spec strut bar, or will the straight through design clear it?

it more or less depends on the intercooler, but usually you'll have to end up getting something designed for a UK or JDM car that clears it. we did a quick measurement on a JDM swapped car, and my cusco OS bar would just BARELY clear an OEM B4 intercooler.

another detail to note, is that the EJ20 throttle body is a bit shorter as well , which obviously helps move the intercooler a little further forward to clear the bar.

Just get one that bends forward, over the throttle body. SYMS makes one, as well as Whiteline. Then you wouldn't need to worry about it not fitting.

And, to tell you from exprience, I don't think that ANY brace that goes torwads the firewall will clear a WRX intercooler.
